Does anyone know of any divorce help books to help those who are going through a divorce. I'm not talking about the legal crap, I'm talking of the emotional side of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone recommended the book "Divorcing" to me. It deals with both the emotional aspect & the financials, too. I haven't picked it up yet.
Had an initial consult w/ a lawyer today. I SO wish this didn't need to be happening. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> My mind is so clogged with so much stuff that I wish I didn't even have to think about. I hate this. I hate my husband for saying this is what he wants & doesn't even want to try. Bad day.

I may try to find that book. Heck, I need something. I know how you feel. I hate this, everything about it. It doesn't have to be this way at all. I guess I just had more faith in my H than he did. I want him back so much, I dread the day I start packing to move out. Anyway, good luck to you and I hope things get better and thanks for the book suggestion.

I found some great books early on. With kids, I found Mom's House/Dad's House, the Sandcastles book, and a book called something like "How to Speak to your kids about divorce" which had alot of questions and suggested answers.
For myself, I found the "Fresh Start Separated/Divorced Workbook", a book written by a lawyer and a psychologist to give advice on both the legal and emotional side of divorce, and many other books.
I also found a local separated/divorced support group which helped immensely as I needed live people to help me though, who also understood how our state/county handled issues.
I also did alot of self help reading/tapes from the library. I couldnt' absorb this stuff fast enough.

I hear ya... I went home at lunch today, and there was a big thick envelope from my lawyer. I felt sick. I didn't open it, since I had to work late tonight and didn't want to be upset.
I've been going to Alanon meetings, and need to go more frequently. This is a really good time to "let go and let God".
