Here's a funny: 5 years ago I took my son to a nearby ski mountain to snowboard. We had been once before and since I was not a skiier and further, because I grew up on a surfboard, I was trying to learn on a snowboard. Wasn't doing too bad on the bunny slope.

My son convinced me to move up to the intermediate slope and I foolishly agreed. Got going too fast, went head over heels and came down on my shoulder. Youch! Very youch!

The short of it was that I had dislocated my shoulder and I took myself to the emergency room that evening. The docs x-rayed me and were marveling at how screwed up my shoulder was while not breaking anything.

Doc: Yep you did a real number on your shoulder.

Me: Did I break anything?

Doc: No, just re-arranged a few parts. How'd you do this anyway?

Me: Snowboarding.

Doc: NO WAY!!!! You??? Snowboarding??? You don't have enough hair to be a "Dude!"

I kinda did the same thing on a pair of skis. I totally screwed up my hand. Guess how?
I had just gotten off the ski lift, pulled over to the side to get out of the 5-10 year olds way, stopped to take a breath. I looked off to the side, and fell over sideways with my poles around my wrists. Well one pole stayed in my hand and pulled my thumb all the way back. I didnt break anything either, but snapped tendons and ligaments. I wasnt even skiing or moving, just standing there and tipped over. Had a cast on and off for a year, then had surgery to fix it.
So BTDT for sure. I sure looked like an idiot, with 5 year olds skiing circles around 33 year old me...

OMG wat....don't make me laugh right now!! I did the something similar on a trampoline recently. You know in college....I was in gymnastics....so I just assumed it would be like riding a bike.....WRONG. I could have broken my neck proving I could still do a backflip!! And here's the kicker....I tried it TWICE....is that stupid or what????

I would kinda like to try to snowboarding though....it looks so fun!! But I know I better not.....dang!!

I had a buddy who had a '49 beetle. One of only two in the US (he claimed). Had turn signals that flipped out of the side door posts.

According 2 Harrah's museum in Reno NV, there were only 2 49 beetles imported in2 the US. They had one on display. So, it's possible.

Since, I've seen ads for '46 beetles, but they've been privately imported.

I had a '59 Westfalia with semaphore 2rn signals like you describe. The van had been brought over as part of the package where you buy one in Europe while vacationing there, and ship it home afterwards. It also had "conventional" 2rn signals (from a Porsche), that were added 2 comply with US laws.

I paid $450 for the van (very rusty). I sold the Semaphores alone for $500, the van for $450, the tent for about the same, and kept the engine for my truck!
