My husband and I have been together for the better part of ten years. We married, divorced and remarried. It seems that no matter how horrible we screw things up, God always puts us right back together. But, we're having a problem that I don't know how to fix. We have one son together who is 8. After his birth, my dr recommended a tubal, and I agreed. A few years later, my husband and I started divorce proceedings, and he immediately had a vasectomy. Of course, we remarried within a year. We've been remarried for almost two years. We recently started talking about having reversals and at least one more child together. After praying about it for many weeks, we scheduled my reversal. Then, this weekend we had a fight and now he refuses to even consider more children. He said, "I just know that we'll split up again.. it may be one year, or five years or ten years, but there's no sense in dragging another innocent child through this." Needless to say, I'm heartbroken because I really wanted more children with my husband. Additionally, I'm seriously concerned that he is setting us up for another divorce with his attitude that something is definitely going to happen to us. I don't know what to do.

I truly love my husband, and I do not want a life without him. At the same time, I want more children, and I feel it is so unfair of him to make this decision. I tried to talk to him about it again tonight, and his response was, "I really don't want any more kids." He is the one who brought up the idea of more children to begin with. Does he just not love me enough to want more kids with me? Should I just start making plans now in order to be able to support myself when he decides the end has come? Someone please help. I've cried for days, and I don't know what else to do.

Welcome to MB, some abreviatioins: H = husband
DS = dear son, POJA = policy of joint agreement
M = marriage
IMHO: in my humble opinion

Have you read the free material on this site ?

Your H may feel insecure about your M.
This issue will need to be addressed before you should talk
about more children.

You mentioned praying - do you belong to a church ?

IMHO: read thru the free stuff carefully and you can begin to understand some basic helpful behaviors.
See if your husband will join you in looking at the emotional needs questionaire - this is often a good start

Stop any lovebusting NOW.

There are other posters on this site that have a lot more insight than I do and if you stay with us they should join in soon. Good luck.
