I don't know what kind of music many of you are into, but I heard a sone today that is so incredibly sad that I felt the need to post about it here to drag the rest of you down into the depressive abyss...

Author: James Blunt

Title: Goodbye my lover

"Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.
So I took what's mine by eternal right.
Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer but when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.
I've watched you sleeping for a while.
I'd be the father of your child.
I'd spend a lifetime with you.
I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I'm asleep.
And I will bear my soul in time,
When I'm kneeling at your feet.
Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow.
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow."

LOL...well, I heard the song today and looked up the lyrics....I don't particularly like the song, but man, this young kid writes some pretty sad, but profound stuff. You don't write stuff like that unless you have some "experience" with his kind of pain.

Anyway, lemme go look up what Beethoven I have on hand. The Ipod needs some new tunes added.

Tonight I am listening to Beethoven Symphonies 1-9 by Zagreg Philharmonic that I downloaded from Itunes. So peaceful and relaxing!

He was on Oprah about two weeks ago--sang this song and another depressing one. He's pretty young looking. I think he was in the British army, too.

I like his voice, but I cannot listen to these depressing songs. I think music is wonderful therapy, and Biblically worship can be seen as a weapon, but this type of depressing music should come with a warning to take with two zoloft before listening.

He's actually 32 but looks very young (swine ). There are some happier songs on his album but he does do angst quite well! LOL

Yes he was in the army, he trained at Sandhurst Officer Training Academy. William and Harry (the Princes) are currently there.

Lemonman - buy the CD. You will love every song on it. It is THE best music of the past year. "Back to Bedlam". Nobody, young or old, could fail to be moved by some of the lyrics. Beautiful music.

I do wish he'd have dropped the profanities on his album versions though....I don't think it adds anything at all to his music. It's at odds with the whole feel of the song...I nearly crashed the car in shock the first time I heard the album!!

good...like him...but I am in a new phase musically now...

the buds at work have been downloading "cool 80's" music and some early 90's stuff...we listen on my portable ipod speaker at work..

here's a good song we just downloaded...very nice...

Cutting Crew

Died in Your Arms Tonight

Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight

I keep looking for something I can't get
Broken hearts, they're all around me
And I don't see an easier way, to get out of this
Her diary sits by the bedside table
The curtains are closed, the cat's in the cradle
Who would have thought that a boy like me could come to this

Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been some kind of kiss
I should have walked away
I should have walked away

Is there any just cause for feeling like this?
On the surface I'm a name on a list
I try to be discreet, but then blow it again
I've lost and found it's my final mistake
She's loving by proxy, no give and all take
'Cause I've been thrilled to fantasy, one too many times

Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been some kind of kiss
I should have walked away
I should have walked away

It was a long hot night, she made it easy
She made it feel right
But now it's over, the moment has gone
I followed my hands to my head, I know I was wrong

Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must have been some kind of kiss
I should have walked away
I should have walked away

What a romantic song~seriously!

*we think the song is about some dude who had a brief yet passionate affair with a woman who is taken...or that he was the victim of a woman who just used him for his good lovin'....

we're also having a blast downloading some hair band music too! We downloaded Ratt, Nightranger, Poison, old U2 stuff, and when I almost fell asleep the other day (I have been on call this week) they surprised me by playing a Divinyls song...just to see if I'd wake up...I did and My Goodness! I forgot those lyrics...It was funny...played it just to see my reaction (surprised and shocked expression on my face)...

LOL....I have no problem with swearing....but on Your Beautiful it jars with the beautiful sentiments. There I was feeling all warm and fuzzy listening to it and then bam....huh what did he just sing?

Wisemen is one of my favourite songs on his album.

Dr. L., are you telling us that perhaps you are still struggling somewhat from time to time? It happens . . .

I can't hear that song without the memory of my nine year old daughter coming home from her dad and step mom's singing EVERY WORD.

It simply killed my ability to enjoy the song.

I detest that song as well!

why?

ironically the wistress likes that song too!

sadly, it's a song bout a golddigger wench.

Now Lem.....

It's ok to feel a bit surly/down now and then. I get that way often...but hey! I am woman. We can b hormonal and such is life.

It's ok. You are a friend. And men can have somewhat of a "man-strual" cycle...I tell my buddies at work when theirs is as I am the only female. I love ya and it's ok to feel sad.

Heck, bout a month ago, was driving in to see patients on call when I heard a song by .38 special..."If I'd been the One"...and it reduced me to tears in about 1 minute flat. I cried and cried in the hospital parking lot. cleaned up, t ouched up makeup, and went right in. I was fine after that. Just happens.

Songs to me, are often imho associated with "where you were/who were you with/where are you at" stuff. A song can be a reminder of a place, a person, or a stagein your life. that's how I think about them anyway.

the songs that remind of my divorce? easy. 1)How you remind me-nickelback 2)It's my life-No Doubt 3)don't speak=no doubt and 4)Because of you-Kelly Clarkson...and the QUEEN MOTHER TO ME of divorce songs...which reminds me of everything...N TH'END BY LINKIN PARK. Heck sadly I remember Lem telling a buddy of mine, who was a doc, that that was my song ..my ultimate divorce song...(we were taking bout our divorces) he said this..."My cheating W likes that song. I hear the words..I love Linkin Park...it is not a happy little dance song...my crazy cheating wife will hear it and do a dance in her seat. Makes me wanna hurl."

Those songs get me...and the one by .38? Reminds me of when I used to drive w/him to visit his folks seven hrs away in LA...(not the city, the state). Driving thru the backroads..listening to southern rock.

Songs can also remind me of how far I came. How far alone..well not alone, with my ds, my friends and family, and you guys to help.

My sister is crazy for James Blunt!
We went to see him in concert in Philadelphia. I have to admit I like him much better since I've seen him live. He has charisma and good energy. I thought the CD was a little melodramatic. Apparently he writes all his own songs from his life experience. He is a BS... saw his CGF (cheating girlfriend) on the subway w/OM...inspiration for You're Beautiful. Served in the army in Bosnia...more inspiration!

At the concert he played some songs from his up coming CD due out this spring....much more up lifting. I'd expect there are songs like..."I moved on...I'm all that and man, did you miss out CGF!!" I am looking forward to it.

The young girls at the concert were hysterical like... Beatles hysterical. Us older girls were much more composed.
