So it is now done. An uncontested divorce and I'm now legally single again. This isn't what I wanted at all. My now ex says that it is a clean break that she needs to start over, heal the wounds over the things in our marriage, and that she sees us back together again in the near future. It is counterintuitive, but for the first time in a month, she's been affectionate, warm, has kissed me, and keeps telling me to have faith in us. I want desperately to believe her, but I'm scared to death I'll lose her forever.

I know what everyone here will say right away. She's doing this so she can continue her A. I know this isn't the case. I have snooped, have phone records, and genuinely believe she has no intent to go with someone else. She's planning on moving back to DC to be with her parents until she finds job and gets a place. She's even offered to live next door to me so that I can have regular access to the kids.

She hasn't talked to the guy or seen the guy that she had a one night encounter with. This I know for a fact.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Get back together after a break?

Like I said, she has been warm, affectionate, and doing all of the things you would expect to do on the road to recovering your relationship with your spouse, reassuring me that I need to have faith that we'll be back together soon. Any thoughts on this?

She is telling you that you will get back together again in the future so you won't give her any grief over being dumped. If she can get you to believe this, she hopes you will go along without protest while she destroys your marriage and your children's family.

She has no intention of doing this to "save the marriage." That is a ruse to get you to quietly put your neck in the noose without PROTEST. She is being nice to you because she feels guilty.

You should be scared to death that you will lose her forever, because you ARE LOSING HER. By going along with this ruse, you are making it EASY for her to dump you and move on.

If she really wanted to save the marriage, she wouldn't be getting a divorce. A divorce ENDS a marriage, it doesn't SAVE it. It would be silly to believe otherwise. Come out of the fog, my friend. You have been conned.
