Has anyone used Spector Pro 5.0? I'm interested in using it to monitor my kids' internet activity and it's one of the few that I've found that will log Instant Messenger activity. It also monitors incoming and outgoing emails, blocks porn, has a keylogger, etc. This whole "myspace" website controversy is raising the hairs on my neck!

With all the snooping on spouses I thought maybe someone could offer advice.

If you don't like this one, is there one you prefer and why?

it's the best! I use it on a MAC.. It basically captures screen shots and keyboard input and let's you look at it at any time. The screens can be played back and the keystrokes are viewed in a file.

I'm not aware of how it blocks porn.. all you need is the screenshots.. the passwords too all their accounts will be visible in the keyboard logging file.

Great product !

you can block porn by using the built in features of Internet Explorer, if that's the browser you use. you can even set Google up to only show G-rated content from search results.. local college may offer a class on this stuff.

Good luck and reach out anytime for PC help. I'm an expert.

MySpace is international.. and appears to be more pre-teens than adults..

If you want to find old school mates, try classmates. com.. and if they are professionals, I like linkedin.com for networking.

MySpace is for kids and the MTV crowd...

The controversy relates to 12 year old girls posting pictures of themselves in provocative poses and in various forms of undress and how it's a breeding ground for child molesters and other sickos....

Check it out for yourself..

That pretty muchs sums it up. My local PD has been very proactive in going to local schools and speaking at the PTSO meetings. Most parents have their head in the sand on this and have no clue what their children are up to. My clue that something shady was going on was when my 12-year-old DD started minimizing windows when I walked into the room. Set off the mommy alarms big time!

There are canned surveys on the site that the kids can add to their profiles. Some of the questions: Do you prefer oral or anal? Ever danced like a wh**e?

Nice.

Don't blame the technology or the Internet.. it's just the medium..

and don't go all Tipper Gore on us either.. ;-)

It comes down to parenting and knowing your children.. taking an active role in who they are and their culture.. it's the most important job in the world...

There are tools for monitoring computer usage.. and it's not that complicated..

Microsoft Internet Explorer and most other browers have certain things built in...

Spector Software rocks!
