Just a over a year ago our son was entered on the transplant list. Just over a year ago I crushed in our closet door when I found out my wife had strayed from our marriage.

Just last month I crushed in another closet door when I found proof of my wife's new contact with the OM. That same day she finally saw she had lost me and she did everything she could to end it, including telling him verbally on the phone with me listening. She has been the real wife I remember since that day.

Had this transplant happened during her affair, her plan was to leave me and live with the OM after our son recovered. Somehow though, it took them more than a year to call us when they thought it would occur much faster.

Somehow I don't find it to be a coincidence that it waited until now. Now that his mother and father are back, now that his grandfather died and is in heaven, having promised to help from the 'other side'. It just seems right somehow.

They called us at 3am. He is scheduled to be in surgery at 9pm Pacific time. Please pray for him if you can, especially at that time. His name is Marlon.

Thank you all for helping not just myself, but my whole family arrive at this moment together.

Sundog

SUNDOG:

My friend, you got it. I can only imagine the rush of emotions you felt with the call from the transplant coordinator. This is going to go well for your son. IT IS.

Settle in, have faith, and know that NOW is your son's time. His time was NOT last year. It is now.

Hello everyone,

Marlon received his new liver and the surgery went very well. It's a very emotional situation to know that your son will be cured from his disease, yet to also know that another small child died in order for us to get the liver.

They had trouble attaching the main artery and after two tries had to end up using an artery that came from the same cadaver.

The initial surgery went well, but he started losing blood rapidly after about 12 hours. Took him back in OR and found that the artery had opened. They closed him up and another 12 hours later he started bleeding from his lymph node. They opened him up a third time and he seems to be stable again.

He's very strong. Even with all the sedation he continues to wake occasionally and ask for his mother, then he promptly passes out. They are trying to make him sleep for 24 hours so he doesnt move and relaxes.

He has good color and vitals now. His liver is also working 'amazingly well' according to the main surgeon. They are happy with it's performance. He is offically cured of his metabolic disease.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, we appreciate it very much.

Wowzer. I came upon this thread just today. So, my prayers for the surgery didn't happen. But I can certainly pray for his healing from the surgery, and that his body "likes it's new part".

God Bless you and your family. I am so happy for you.

What exciting news! Prayers are being answered! I hope things continue to go well.

It's interesting that we both ended up in Seattle at the same time. Right now, I'm at Camano Island, which is north of Seattle. Between helping my dad and mom, I'm helping my younger sister move. She is an attorney and couldn't get off work to move to her dream home.

You and your family will be in my prayers.

Sundog, when I read posts like this I still get emotional....a tear wrinkles down my face as I type this.

Thank god for the good people who make the miracle of organ transplantation possible........the DONORS.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

It's a pretty high tech hospital here, so I have time to get online rather easily with my laptop.

Marlon is still doing very well, his liver numbers are that of those of a perfectly healthy person so far (knock on wood). The surgeon credits that fact to how healthy the donated liver was.

He couldn't give us details, but he did say the cause of death was of a 'suffocation' nature. When we put two and two together we realized we had gotten the call to fly to the hospital before the child may have died. My wife just losses it when we think of the poor other family.

Marlon walked for the first time a bit today. He's still not wanting to eat, so his energy is a bit low, but he's on a TPN drip so that will keep him up a bit.

He's finally off the narcotics as well. We agree with the surgeon's opinion that they cause more troubles than they fix. He was throwing up and loopy the whole time he was on them.

We are past the most critical stages of the transplant. Rejection is expected to some extent in the next year, but it's very treatable with modern medicine. We are both very happy and already feel like a great weight has been lifted off of us.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi Sundog,

You were so nice when you gave me some advise about our situation with OW. I had no idea that you were going through this. For you to take the time to help strangers speaks volumes about your character. Your wife is a lucky woman and you can tell her that for me.

God has truly blessed you and your family

Hey all,

Son has been recovering alright from transplant, seems to be mostly a mental battle at this time. Being in the hospital and getting poked and prodded takes it's toll on a 4 year old. He refuses to eat, the surgeon thinks his stomache is still 'lazy' from the 3 surgeries, so he has a feeding tube in the nose leading to his stomach. Doesn't bother him much though.

He had a bit of rejection, and had a biopsy, but his numbers are turning around (thats a good thing). Doctors are not worried about it at all, liver rejection is no longer a big problem with modern medicine.

FWW and I are doing very well, helping each other here.

Just thought I'd post a quick update.
