I am one of the long-term readers, occasional posters, but true believers on this site. I was wondering if anyone has some thoughts on a question about whether to disclose something in confidence to our marriage counselor. My wife recently mislead me and our MC on what she did on girl's night out. Can a MC keep that type of information confidential if I meet her alone and explain what I know. The reason I want the MC to know is to understand that my wife is not well yet. Any thoughts.

Are you talking about drug use? That type of thing is safe to reveal to your MC and should be exposed, it's in your wife's best interest. If it's something else you should give more details. That could be why you didn't get any responses sooner on this question.

I believe radical honesty is always the best policy.

If you and your W are seeing the same MC, s/he will share info with the other. It's best that you share that with both of them during your seesion.

Our MC made it clear to us that if one of use calls her, she would tell/share it with the H. This is how I would want it.
