Remember the Great and Powerful Oz?
Of course you do.
Waywards are Great and Powerful Ozes. Seriously. They are bluff and bluster. They are smoke and mirrors. They puff themselves up to deflect your attention away from the real focus, the real problems...at all costs.
Even when their cover is blown by something as mundane as a little dog, they STILL try to deflect your attention AWAY from the truth. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN, BETRAYED! Even when faced with the truth, and the veil of secrecy is whipped away, they hang on the the smoke and mirrors even tho the lights have come up and the audience SEES them for what they are and what they've done.
Like the Great and Powerful Oz, also, the more the wayward is faced with the truth, the greater the chance they will redeem themselves and become contrite and begin to focus on the true "them."

Bizarre. The same metaphor and line keep recurring to me, too.

Weird! This just occurred to me a few days ago too. Thanks! Beautifully put, Kimmy.

The girl, tired of her boring and mundane black-and-white life, one day gets caught up in a torment of emotion and is carried away to a wonderful, colorful and magical place full of danger and excitement. She is convinced the man can fulfill her every need and desire. He is larger than life. She risks everything – life and limb – to be with the man of her dreams. But once she sees him for what he really is, she knows he cannot meet her needs and never could have. Everything she had believed on this mystical adventure was based on a lie. What she really wanted had been in front of her all the time but she did not recognize it or appreciate it. She had always taken it for granted and now needed a way to try to get back to it.
So she clicked her ruby slippers together and said – "There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home."
I can't even enjoy the Wizard of Oz any more. It is the anatomy of an affair.

I'm so sorry Tracionado.
I woke up last Thursday night and was thinking about it.....
I CAN watch WOO, but then I'm FAR further down the road than a lot of people are. The Great and Powerful Oz no longer makes an apparence in my life anymore.
The Wicked Witch, however, does.....anyone got a bucket of (holy) water?
