What type of issues do you think there are...especially for the children? Do you know of any way to make things easier for the children?
Before they marry or move in together, a couple should sit down and agree upon house rules for each age group of children, including those that will only visit and do not live in the household. It's easier for both parents and children if the children know what is expected of them, punishments they will receive, and know that another child is not getting favortism. Of course new things will pop up and some rules will need to be changed or added, but it is a good start.

Children also feed off of resentment from parents. They remember every negative thing said by one parent about the other parent or step-parent.

I wasn't the OW. My (soon to be X)H's XW had already married OM when we started dating. However, SS's were young and weren't told about A. The youngest has real abandonment issues toward his father.
