While we were still married my wife and I got on a waiting list for county child care assistance. During this period we of waiting we got divorced. When funding became available we were both exstatic neither one of us could afford the cost (we were both paying half of the $1600 a month cost). She was given a $112 parent portion, and I thought that I would have to a part of that. When she recieved the assistance the county took over my support payments and began garnishing my paychecks, and I was told that I am to continue paying my court obligated amount as stated by the divorce decree <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />. After support and child care my paychecks look similar to the ones I had when I had a lemonade stand outside my parents house when I was 5. I cunsulted a lawyer and was told that her amount doesn't effect mine and that there is a formula to figure mine which would be roughly one third. I've searched everywhere for similar cases and have been able to find nothing and eventually came across this forum (great forum by the way tons of info about marraiges and divorces). If anyone knows of someone, or has gone through something similar I'm all ears. Maybe I'm sol, but it just doesn't sound right.
