Hi lady,
I usually don't venture far out from Recovery, but I wanted to know that I sooo admire you for doing what you did for Kiwi and Rob. You really showed what a friend truly is - even from beyond cyberspace.
Thanks so much. {{{{ML}}}}
Kiwi and Rob - my hopes and prayers are with you both.

Oh yes, that Mel is a rare one, and for me one of the biggest influences on personal responsibility I have had on this forum since I came.
If we could have one friend like Mel in our lifetime, we would be truly blessed.
Mel rock and rolls!!!!!

I love Mel the best.
She is EXACTLY the kind of friend I'd want.

Thanks so much for the kind words, y'all. But I have to admit I did not want to do it. I kept trying to talk myself out of it, but couldn't come up with any good bullcrap that worked. It's pretty bad when you can't even believe your own bullcrap!
I told myself that if I am going to be telling others they need to expose then I had better be willing to put up myself. Or shut up. And since I am not going to shut up, I had to make the call.
But more than that, I had to make that call because I could feel no peace until that man knew the rightful truth about his own life. And you know what? He KNEW something was wrong. He told me he sensed it, but couldn't put his finger on the problem. He is a wonderful, dear man and I hope and pray for peace in his life.

Isn't it WONDERFUL how good you feel when you know deep inside that you have done the RIGHT thing?
Luv ya, Mel...
Gives me another opportunity to tell you that I will be forever grateful for ALL that you have done for me...
How could you have been ALWAYS THERE when I REALLY NEEDED YOU?

Hope this doesn't tarnish your COWGIRL IMAGE....

Well done. Forget the " who are you to interfere crap?" He was being abused again and didn't even know it. Now he does, he can begin to deal with it and make some choices. Before, all his choices had been denied him. He had no free will until you gave it to him.

ML -
I agree with all the above. You gave Rob the information Jen was denying him...information he needed to make his own choice.
A very brave thing you did...put up or shut up, indeed.
I'm from Texas myself...born in Fort Hood, lived in San Antonio (2 years), El Paso (15 years), and Dallas(2 years). Through the vagaries of fate I wound up in the Carolinas....I still can't get over this slop they call barbeque! What part of Texas do you hail from?
My hat's off to you!

Gotta love me some Texas BBQ, bitbucket! I'm out in Longview but was raised in Lubbock. Thanks for your kind words.
ToddAC and baywindow, thanks for the support.

East TX sure must be a big change from Lubbock.
In west TX we had mountains and no trees...in SC we have trees but no mountains. Hard to navigate when you can't see more 20 meters.
I'll be in Dallas this weekend to see my nephew graduate from high school. Maybe I can get some BBQ then. First time we went to a BBQ place in Raleigh, they brought us pulled pork with a sweet vinegar sauce. I thought they had f****d up the order! It's good but it ain't BBQ!

It's pretty bad when you can't even believe your own bullcrap! The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool. - Richard P. Feynman When does interfering cross into stepping on others rights? We bandy about things like "freedom of speech" and other (american) rights mantras, but do we understand them? If MelodyLane were a baseball player Do you side with the ballplayer? Or were rights infringed on here? Did Kiwi make her "private" marriage public by coming here? How about when she introduced the OM to it? At what point, when someone states "I don't need HELP" very emphatically do we ignore them? If it bothers you what Mel did, change the scenario ... if KiwiJ were in a weird cult that might prove destructive and Mel engineered a "forced withdrawal" she would be praised. Would that THEN be OK? Is the difference to you a destructive cult vs. a private marriage? Or is it the same - someone helping someone that NEEDED it and couldn't ask/didn't realize it. Do you sit at your terminals, reading these events, and just say "Wow!" or do you ask yourselves what YOU would do if YOU had the opportunity to make a difference. And what would you be willing to sacrifice TO make a difference? Our dual natures are very puzzling.... We strongly want honesty from everyone around us no matter what, but oh how hard it is to give. Just a few things to think about. NCWalker
