If you want intimacy with a biker, help him clean and wax his bike. My husband used to love that. We'd listen to music and work together. Of course, the bike always looked better than our house.

Yeah, they were afraid the wives would get hurt. Guess they both had bikes before they married.

My H and I did the same thing w/bikes and vehicles. We actually were very compatible and had some really good times together.

Okay... but neither of those is the norm... I can tell you as an ex cop in a lrge city that there are a lot of mc riders that are an absolute nightmare. A lot. A good portion drive recklessly and display the same attitude when off the bike. It's funny... but you can take a 97# weekling and put him on a Harley and suddenly he is the worlds biggest a-hole. Now, please don't get in an uproar... I am not saying everyone is like this but there are a lot... and from my perspective the % of a-holes is much higher than car people.
In addition, I would say that the riding is very unsafe too. I have carried a helmet with a head in it... no body attached... my brother works as a trauma doctor in an ER and he calls them donor cycles... I would never let my child on a bike.. helmet or not.
Okay, now I am done... for those that like them.... be safe.. and for God's sake, look out for the crazy car people!

DH and I have a HAWG! We have a Honda Gold Wing and have even been to a BIKER BAR in Jefferson, Tex. But sheeesh, some of those gals in there looked a leeeeeeeeeeeeeeetle rough and could have greatly benefitted from a brassiere and perhaps a little sunscreen. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> The no brassiere with a head bandana look was definitely NOT FLATTERING! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

DH is a member of a riding group that mostly consists of teachers, computer programmers, a physicist, a pharmacist, etc and they do very mundane things together. Very few of them participate in the big biker rallies here because they seem to be nothing more than drunken brawls. There was a KILLING at one a couple of years ago. His group doesn't drink, do drugs or hang out in bars.

I agree with MEDC that they are very dangerous. My mothers' cousin was decapitated on one when she was a teenager so she never allowed us to go on a motorcycle. My parents were quite upset when my H bought this cycle. My H is extremely cautious and when we ride, we go out on country roads, which are safer.

i been following ur sitch for a while and i gotta tell you what you did and how you handled everything was AWESOME!!! you have alot of class and i hope things work out for you in the long run....anyway...

i wanted to jump in and say i go to the big rallies every year...goin to sturgis again this year...was at laughlin when all He!! broke loose and used to go to hollister every year till they cancelled this past year....

last year rode over 5000 miles from Cali to SD and everywhere in between for over 3 weeks....NEVER...NEVER have had problems....my GF love to ride but the LONG trips are usually just "guy" trips....

if you aint lookin for problems...you wont HAVE problems....just gotta keep your eyes open and know where you are and where you should avoid....just like any big party....

if anyone is wondering....BEST trip you can ever go on.....cruise the Rockies and take a trip through colorado on a MC...makes you realize that there is a GOD!!!

Ahem, cops.......

We went to an overnighter in Ocotillo Wells in the California desert. Everyone was having dinner, playing music and having a good time.

Next to us (about a quarter mile away) there was a large group of men who were shooting guns. It seemed kind of dangerous. A couple guys rode over to talk to them. They asked them to please cool it, wouldn't want to have to call the cops.

They responded "We ARE the cops".

And Melody, one day we were stranded out in the country - and I was pushing my WH and Harley down a hill to start it. A man and wife rode by, and yelled - "GET A HONDA!!!!!!"

A Honda is a great bike, and will never leave you stranded.

Hey, Believer, how are you today? H wanted me to let you know that Yamaha's are relible also. But neither they nor Honda have the prestige on a HD!

Melody- H wants to say that's where he learned to ride on those back country roads. He says he loves it and wouldn't have it any other way!

Well, I can say that riding with H has been a big help w/ spending Quality time together, feeling the wind in our hair and on our face. I love riding and smelling the different smells in the air. It's always wonderful to hold on tight. H says it's a great way to get away from the busy week, to hear that HD roar! He wishs he could make it a week ride! LOL

Wind in your hair??? You must not have helmet laws. That's why I love to ride in Arizona - no helmet.

Yamaha's are great too, and much more reasonable. The whole HD thing is probably overblown. But I always wanted to look cool if we went down.

Mine doesn't wash his bike. He bathes it.

Speaking of bikers, is anyone in BACA?

RMFAO-Hey, Dobie I agree with the "Bathes it." We have a great friend who's in The Bayou chapter. We just the brouchure for it a few weekends ago!

I can say this those bikes have really brought H and I together. LOL Now, that he's got the HD, the Yamaha's mine! So, of course, I have to care for it, so when we're out there we usually spend that time talking. I think I owe alot to those bikes! LOL Intimacy, indeed!

B-No, we do have the helmet law! But until I got my extra small compared to the small, I might as well have not been wearing one. The [email]d@mn[/email] thing would ride to the top of my head, and I would have to pull it down the whole time. Pain in the @ss! LOL

I don't think we have a helmet law here. It really doesn't matter to me, I'll wear it even if the state tells me I have to. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I also have a matching kevlar jacket, which is a huge improvement over the old days when I wore his jacket and looked like a little kid trying to play biker.

That reminds me, I need gloves of my own.

Stugis - Colorado sounds beautiful.

One of my favorite rides is up the coast from California to Washington. I love going along the ocean. My WH didn't like it because the road winds too much, and he can't see the scenery.

Our dream was to go to Australia and rent a bike. Guess we won't make that one.

Do you all have the biker clothes too? Or is that just in California? It cracks me up. Everyone even dresses up to go get oil at the Harley dealer.

Oh, yea! We've got the biker clothes! We don't dress up to go to the HD shop, we just happen to be wearing them already! LOL

It's funny - when I met my husband 17 years ago, he asked me to go riding on a poker run. I wore jeans and a shirt and a light jacket. We went up to the mountains (in February). I froze.

Now I have several leather jackets, chaps, gloves, boots (with chains, and spurs). When I used to run up to the shop for parts, I went in regular clothes, but noticed everyone else wearing Harley stuff.

last year coming home from hollister and monterey...(i live in LA area)...we rode along Big Sur and down the coast...my GF took pictures from the back of the bike as we rode...some of the most incredible pics...(i wish i knew how to post em)

i laughed when i read about the "biker" clothes...i learned that EVERYTHING has a use...from chaps to gauntlets to fleece face masks to good rain gear....but....only when you really need them....im more of a rock n roll t-shirt, blue jeans and black boots, ball cap turned backwards kinda guy...i dont get to much into the "geeky" leather vests or bandanas or such...(i do have some COOL red flame "sha sha boots" i use for riding tho)... <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
