Sigh - I am testing my digital recorder today trying to get the auto start to work right. Its an RCA $30.00 walmart special.
I set it up yesterday to record - it recorded 13 hours straight non-stop - mind you I have small children so there was constant noise a lot - but not all night.
So today, I set it to record as we were leaving the house so it would go quiet (school run). Then upon return waited a little bit before checking the recorder after we had made some noise. It only recorded the 2 minutes before we left.
I have been playing with the sensitivity button to try to dial that in as well.
I guess I'm wondering if it is going to auto sense noise throughout a whole day - or do you have to tell it you are recording everytime and then it will listen during that session.
Any insight???? Thank you!

Maybe I can explain better.
If I hold it in my hand on auto record - and talk it records of course. Then I get quiet and it stops but still shows record mode. Then I talk a minute later and it starts recording - that's great and what I want it to do.
But, when I put it on auto in its secret place - it records for a couple minutes, then if left idle to long it quits recording altogether and just shows the time screen.
Am I doing something wrong or is it basically going to have to stay in record mode - in other words - keep noise on so it will keep going?

If it is voice activated and IN record mode, it should work. Perhaps you should return it and get a better model.

what are you trying to record? Just the stuff going on in the house, or the phone?
If you want to get phone conversations then pickup the little addon that they sell at Radio Shack. It sends everything to your recorder when someone uses the phone and only costs like 5 bucks.
