I am so appreciative to read and study everyone's contributions here, and although we focus mainly on the "problems" and "solutions" in our lives, it is refreshing once in awhile to take a break from the "work" and focus on the small things in our lives that make such a big difference.
I wanted to pass along to you, one of my happiest moments in recent memory.
Fathers day, three of our seven children were with us, and you would expect that they would verbally acknowledge the holiday, but I never expected what they would do that morning.
They were up early, and as T and I sat down to our morning coffee, and meditation, these three darling children, all bent out of shape about who would carry the shiny green gift bag to me, stumbled and fought their way across the room to me. They were so proud, and I could see the anticipation in their little faces, waiting for me to open the bag and retrieve it's contents.
Our 9 year old, slams a card into my hand, and then stands there, waiting for me to read it. Sheepish and slightly blushing, she smiled as I opened the card and read it aloud.
The boys, of course, were fighting over who was going to be closest to me so they could see me open the bag. So I intentionally delayed opening it. Sometimes, it's fun to play with their impatience.
Imagine my surprise though, when I opened the bag, and there carefully wrapped, wasn't a tie or tool. Not a box of candy, or some other "normal" fathers day gift.
Inside was a brand new copy of Fall in Love, Stay in Love. I was SHOCKED! I was even more shocked when the kids told me that they had all three gone into the store themselves, and paid for it with their money. No mom helping them.
They said that they want mommy and I to stay together, and they thought that book would help. I was touched beyond belief. If that wasn't one of the most precious moments a person can have I don't know what is.
I hope that each of you, that read this, can reflect on a moment similiar in your own lives, and take that reflection and hang on to it for encouragement for the road ahead. I know I am. It is truly amazing at how God will work in our lives, and gives us, exactly what we need when we need it.
In loving gratitude for all of us here who struggle and laugh as we trudge our own roads in this life.
