YES

I finished ...

It was sooooooo saaaaaaaaaaaaad !!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the book brought up some difficult situations where the parents were put in the impossible spot of making choices where at least one (or more) of their children might suffer.

My personal bias comes from my experience in NICU years ago ... I guided many babies into death .... seems weird to write it this way ... but that is how I experienced it. And then, during some "reunion parties" , I met some of our "graduates" who never will be "OK" .... and it was, overall, a brain-numbing experience it hurt so much !

One of the most traumatic moments EVER, is in Sophie's Choice .... both the book & the film ... I was blown away and devastated both times.

I thought that My Sister's Keeper took a bold turn at the ending just for dramatic shock value .... the Dad at the scene of the crash .... I thought that was a bit of a literary cheap shot.

But I do recomend the book for anyone.

Well worth the time.

It was very sad, with a bit of over the top drama at the end I agree.

I'm huge on organ donors so it pulled at me personally as well. Hard to wear their shoes.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Nothing about the hamster bite, hmmm.

I will never see the film cuz the book hurt my heart sooooo much. That moment is so imprinted on my brain you would think I experienced it. I am teaching a class for upper elementary/teens at church on the Holocaust over the summer. It has been richly rewarding so far but..the images during some of my search for photos to show the kids. My human heart and mind have loads of troubler assimilating the truth of what these people suffered.
