I stand 5 foot 6 inches tall, and when I'm not water bloated, it's not humid out, I haven't eaten Oreo cookies for lunch and dinner, I am a size 10. I weigh in at a not-so-light 155 pounds, but toned. If I let the muscles sag, I'm a size 12........

[color:"purple"]I'm pretty insulted when a guy asks me for "sizes". Those guys give me the creeps. It's one thing to notice and another to make comments about physical size cup size whatever.

BTW I wear men's pants and I'm 5'3" in a 29/29 which is about a ladies size 8. People describe me as slender. I weigh about 130.

The next time some guy asks your dress size ask him this:

Do you mean US, UK, or EUR size conventions?

Do you mean Formal, Casuals or Career Styles? And what Maker's Label?

Do you mean Custom Tailor or Retail size?

Which price range? Good, (inexpensive) Better (pricier) or Best (expensive)?

If he can talk about that....he's entitled to know your dress size. If he can't,
tell him you're fat and hang up. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

(PS I'm about your size - a little smaller and I wear anything from a 2 to an 8 depending on the above criteria.)

i know little about the internets except this: pics or it didn't happen, esp when you describe yourself as top heavy.

seriously, size 10 sounds average to me for someone 5'5" to 5'8". means there are curves which is feminine and attractive. i agree tho i don't know why they can't size womens clothes and men's clothes the same . it would make christmas shopping easier, imo.

I wish I could say something classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn't be (my) style.

Looks like a size 10 can be a lot of things. At 36-30-40 I was fitting pretty well into my 10's. I lost a little over 10# for my wedding and at 36-28-38 I'm comfortably into size 8 and steady at 131#.

Forgot to mention height ... was 5'6 in high school ... now I'm 5'5??! I am way too young to be shrinking!! I am also blessed with size 10 feet ... there is nothing sexy about footwear in that size ... LOL

If it is important enough to you to know, ask her measurements. If it isn't, I guess you'll find out when you find out.

If she's like me and you ask for her measurements...she'll run. Maybe I'm just way old fashioned but I'd say be patient and wait to meet her and then you'll see if she "fits" what you are looking for.

BTW, I am 5'0 (eh hem, okay, 4' 11" 3/4" fine!) and I can't remember ever being more than a 6.

I don't think a 10 is obese, but each body is different, even if the height is the same. I have a sister who is about 5'2", she has larger shoulders and built differently than me, she could pull off a 10 and still look great, I couldn't...

Good luck to ya!

I'm 5'4" and I'm my size 10's are snug at 145 lbs (gained 10 with stress over the past few months o.k. with EATING too much during times over stress ). Size 10 fits me well at about 135 lbs.

I'm 5'8" and I am absolutely HOT at size 10. When I dieted to get to size 8 I lost my ta-ta's . I'd be happy till I died if I could stay a size 10 forever! - Dru

If you want the height, you have to take the feet! Size 11-12 . I also have large hands, it's impossible to find rings that fit w/o having to be sized. My best friend is 4-11... we look so goofy together

In the 1960's my aunt owned a very upscale dress shop. When I was 15 years old she gave me my first job. Every Saturday I would take the new shipment of dresses and remore all the size labels with a little thread ripper so the store seamstress could sew on new ones. All the size 12s, 14s, and 16s would get size 10 labels.

A woman would come in and ask to try on a dress (samples were kept on the floor and the inventory outback.) Unless she was a regular customer she would likely ask for a size 12 or 14. The saleswoman would say, "Oh honey--you can't be much bigger than a size ten. Let's start with that." The lighting and mirrors were also very flattering.

(in those days a size ten was sized like a size 8 is today.)
