All to often we focus on the chaos in our lifes and forget to stop and focus on what we are grateful for...
I was reading an article on a boy, his mother, and Thanksgiving, and found myself thinking why do we celebrate this act only once a year. Then, I found myself wondering what are I grateful for...
I am grateful for...
the rain, it slows me down, and allows for days like today...time to think about life.
my children, for the messes that they make, the smiles on their faces, for the opportunity to teach them values, for being able to hug and kiss them, for being able to learn from them, to play with them. (I could go on and on about why I'm grateful for my children.)
my FWH, for the rough times, for the good times, for the waking that was a result of the A; being able to turn a negative into a positive, for loving him, for being next to him, for struggling every day with him, for being able to talk with him; even though the talks may not result in a positive outcome (he's still there), for him getting up and going to work every day, for just being able to look at him, hear him breathe, listen to his heartbeat, for him! (again, I could go on and on!) LOL
I am grateful for ants, for the way they carry their food, for water, for the sky, the clouds, the sun, the moon, for sunsets and sunrises, for chocolate (LOL), for ice, for a cool drink, for something to eat when I'm hungry, for my wonderful pillow and bed even thought I don't sleep well, for my memories both good and bad...
for being able to chose what I want to wear each day, for the choice to fight or retreat from the world, for being able to make decisions, for the rewards or the consquences of those decisions, for breathing...
for being able to smell a flower, a scent in the air like fresh cut grass, or onions cooking on the stove, for the view that the wind provides as it blows through the trees and grass...
So, to you I ask...What are you grateful for? Peace of mind, a light heart, for the good and bad experiences in life (for I believe what does not kill us makes us strong, better)!
IS it your children, H, W, FIL, MIL, Brothers, sisters?
Please share your thoughts...

Since D-Day there has been one word swimming around my head and planting itself in my conciousness - CLARITY.
The Websters defintion is as follows: 'Clearness of appearance: the clarity of the mountain air. Clearness of thought or style; lucidity: writes with clarity and perception.'
I am grateful for the clarity I have found, even though it has come with the price of a horrible betrayal. I am grateful because after years of unhappiness I have opened my eyes and my heart to the way things should have been, and still can be. It sounds crazy, but in the midst of this situation, even with the A ongoing I am happier than I have been in years...because I know now who I want to be - who I can be. Everything is clear to me now, and I simply have to hold on and keep trying.
Me 37, H 38 Dated 5 yrs, M 5/2002 15 yo DD DDay 1 - 9/2002 OW 20 yo relative of H's friend DDay 2 - 6/5/06- met OW on 2 week business trip, knew for one week - wanted D. A continued via phone/txt through 9/2006 NC Since 10/2006 DDay 3 - 8/2/08 - OW#1 has slithered back into the picture Plan D

For being alive, able bodied enough to enjoy a quality of life with my children that will empower them to be the best they can be.
For my husband's goodness when he decides to particpate.
For my extended family who in their own peculiar way support our family through & simply want us all to get on with it & be happy with our lives & choices.
For the grass in garden, I am lucky.

MPELE-You said it much better than I did! Clarity! The one thing that can move mountains? Helps us chose our direction? Bravo, on being happy. I feel the same way!
Shelia-...a quality of life with my children that will empower them to be the best they can be...spoken like a great parent! LOL What more could a great parent want?
...when he decides to participate...I love it! Do you live in my house, especially with the extended family?
Thanks for sharing, you are truely blessed!

Tons especially:
not having to worry about where the next meal will come from
having a home and a bed to sleep in each night
feeling safe and not sleeping with one eye open in fear of the enemy or bombing
being able to express my religious, politican and any other opinion without fear of being persecuted
my health and the health of my family
my loud and crazy children who are so sensitive and resilient and make me laugh even at my worst
my H, despite all the trials and fog, he is special and without him I would not be the person I am today
my education and all the perks that go with it
this sordid chapter in my life that has taught me more than any other experience, about myself as well as reliance on God and reliance on others
pain, to allow me to appreciate no pain even more
all the MBer's who have tolerated, listened, advised and humored me to date
just to name a few...

Thank you for posting this...it helps to look at things globally and put some objectivity into our sitches...
Of course in all of our own worlds we tend to focus on what is affecting us the most and sometimes looking at what we do have helps to balance that which is difficult
I was mowing the grass the other day thinking just what you posted and I said to myself: self, you have it all the house, job, kids, pets, safe neighborhood, supportive friends and family, no huge $ problems, a good church...if only my H could fall into the fairytale everything would be perfect...life isn't perfect and when it is we get bored
I guess the thing is, no matter what our trials there is always somehting to be grateful for...reminds me of this Christmas story...
(short version) There was a family, mother, 3 kids, no dad...very poor...wore same 3 sets of clothes and each child had 1 pair of shoes...
Christmas season came around and they had no money for gifts but were making gifts for each other...the school and church were collecting $ during advent for needy families...
the poor family decided to forgo meat and the bulk of meal essentials to save $ to give to the needy family in the parish...they sacrificied day after day even though they had holes in their shoes etc.
They were so excited come Christmas day to put their money in the collection and they excitedly talked about how they wished they could see the look on the face of the family that got the $...
they had no Christmas meal to look forward to but they didn't care b/c the thrill of giving had taken over them
a few hours after church a knock came to their door and it was the pastor delivering....the $ for the needy family
they were shocked, never did they even consider that they were "poor"

Talk about stories to lift the soul, that was mt intention with this thread, and you are very welcome. Day in an day out, I think about what could I do to make my situation better, to easy the heaviness that falls on me...this is my resolution...to look at all the wonderful things I do have!
Being ungrateful is a tragedy in itself...we had a tendency to take things for granted...
To all of you, thank you for sharing, the more you post the more I realize what I do have to be grateful for!
2much-I enjoyed the story very much...many blessing to you, your H, your children, and all that you have in your life!

Rinderella,
Thanks for starting this thread. So many times I come on here and read some of these threads and just get more depressed than I already am. I try not to read too many anymore. It's good to see a "positive" thread (not that others aren't, but you know what I mean).
I am grateful for.......
-The Lord's grace and power and his dying for our sins. My life would be meaningless without him in it.
-My beautiful healthy happy daughters
-My M
-My brothers who support me in everything I do and have done. I don't know what I would do without them.
-My parents for also supporting me in everything I do and have done and giving me a great childhood and upbringing.
-My career
-My H's career and job opportunities
-My house, my car, my health, my friends, my life!!!
I'm sure there is so much more. The Lord has truly blessed me!
Thanks again for starting this thread. It made me feel good to write all that great stuff
