Well, I haven't been able 2 figure out what 2 post or how 2 post it, but decided I'd post anyway...
We're dealing with a rather annoying investment issue with my SIL, who's been renting the house we bought after the fire at our main house, with the hope of buying us out within a 2ple years of the purchase (almost 4 years ago now). The SIL is threatening 2 sue us because we want 2 sell the house (2 her or someone else) and recover our equity 2 help invest in our DD's first house.
Anyway, my W and I have had a lot of discussions about it, family, extended family, and a host of ancillary things about those subjects (yes, including infidelity - as her late father and her best friend's father were/are both philanderers).
But it isn't so much the fact that we're better able 2 talk about these things lately that I'm posting about. I posted this somewhere on someone else's thread recently, but damned if I can figure out where that was, but: I am finding I'm truly enjoying talking with my W about stuff. And that nicely balances with my observation several months ago that I enjoy my soli2de when one of us is out of town for a meeting or something.
She's even gone out of her way 2 kiss me or hug me and stuff. And same here.
Kinda cool.
Was also thinking about convos I've had with Spacecase recently, and his own update on Faith's photo thread last week. He and his xW get along well, and her A has apparently ended, though it didn't in time 2 save the M. But the best part is that he holds no animosity 2ward her over what happened. Kind of like something Orchid said on another thread I can't remember where it was, that she only wanted her WS' happiness, even if it was at their family's expense. SC did something like that, which is why they all get along so well now. It's something I could see myself doing as well, though I may be able achieve that without DVing.
...but maybe, if SC ever posts a new thread of his own, he should title it something like "Affairs that don't end - by golly they really do even2ally end after all!";)
I think my W's has ended for keeps, finally. But I do still need 2 find a safe time when we're not dealing with an angry SIL 2 discuss the past with her 2 make sure that's the case. Getting rid of ancillary house commitments is going 2 help facilitate that, of course.
I don't find a whole lot 2 post about these days, so this is unusual for me. Feels kinda neat, ac2ally.

Well, I can't figure out how to reply, but here's the reply anyway.
Come to think of it, when a WS uses a cell phone to communicate with their accomplice, and the BS discovers the affair by snooping cell phone bills, it sorta brings a whole new meaning to "roaming charges" huh?

2long, so nice to read an update like this from you. I missed SC's post on faith1's thread. Just happy that you are at a peaceful place these days.

2L,
I think this is a good post, right? One word of advice, since this is your W's sister, right?, let your W deal with this. You surely can help, support, discuss, but let your W lead the parade so to speak. If you don't she will be placed in the middle between you and her sister. That is never a good thing.
I saw SC's post. It makes me really happy to see him happy. I think in the long run that is one of his secrets in dealing with his W. He figured out to make himself happy and good things have happened to him.
Must go.
God Bless,
JL

OK, here's my serious reply.
I agree with JL about the SIL issue. Don't get between two related women!
Glad to hear otherwise that there may be more closeness with your wife. Guess she likes your new old truck.

All:
yeah, I won't get between them. But it's always been an odd relationship. My SIL has always been jealous of my W, though I've never been able 2 figure out why. And my W is tired of worrying about why. My SIL can be rather venomous when she doesn't get what she wants, so much so that I doubt I could fully describe how that is.
But enough about that.
I think it's good around our place these days. It's definitely more fun.
About the truck... my W ac2ally helped me clean the garage the afternoon after I got home. She said it was worth all I spent on it 2 see the garage cleaned. I had 2 move a lot of stuff, like some of my woodworking 2ls, 2 my basement shop, because I still have my unfinished 29 fordor sedan in one of the garage spaces. My son liked the truck so much he wants 2 help restore the fordor, so I said if we do it 2gether, I'll give it 2 him. Sounds like a big present, but I've only got about 700 bucks invested in it since I bought it 36 years ago.
Everybody likes riding in the truck, but it's funny watching their reactions. You see? Model As idle at something like 300 rpm. That's slow enough that you can hear the individual firings. They're also really smooth and quiet at idle. So, everybody says "gee, that's ac2ally pretty quiet". Then, I put it in gear and start accelerating, and they all then say "boy, this is pretty noisy!" 2 which I reply, "remember, this was built just 30 years after the family horse and buggy was the principle mode of transportation!"
I was going 2 go on an old car 2r Sa2rday, but changed my mind when the thermometer topped 100F in the shade at 10am on our porch. By mid afternoon, it was 109F. I worked on the upstairs bathroom instead, which is air conditioned (though our electric bill will be a 42ne!).
Stuff is good.

Glad stuff is good.
Really glad.
Hope it continues to improve.

I think sometimes about all the pain in the world. I hope we can ease that here, even if only a little bit.

Ohboy ohboy.
Never rent to family. How many times do we have to be told, before we finally get it?
Renting to my sister right now, and yes she had promised to buy it, and no she is not buying it, and yes I want to sell it, and no she doesn't want to move out, and yes she doesn't give a flying ratz whatever about my equity that I need, no no no.
We can't pick our family but we can pick our friends, unfortunately we can't rent to friends either, or hire them, or lend them money...
Oh sorry 2long, this was your thread.

Oh yes, the antique truck...
I read a poem the other day, something about dreaming we were in heaven and while we were in heaven we found a rose, and what if when we awoke we still had the rose in our hand. What if we could bring heaven back with us to our daytime life?
I thought of you, driving down that coastal highway in your new antique truck and realized that you had found a way, finally, to bring your dreams to life and that maybe I have to...and so many others of us on this board who have learned that we paint our life anyway we want, and this is the lesson we came here to learn, and as painful as it has been at times it is all good.
The miracle behind the grievance 2long... when you take away the illusion of time.
I'm happy for you...for all of us.

A song of the time...
...well, crud, I can't find the lyrics anywhere!
But the title is cool enough, I suppose:
"I didn't raise my Ford 2 be a jitney"
...how many people nowadays even know what a jitney is?
and then there's
"Henry made a lady out of Lizzie"
...how many know "who" the lady is and who Lizzie was? (but everyone knows who Henry was, don't they?

Oh sorry 2long, this was your thread. Some of us have 2 learn our lessons through firsthand experience! The good news is that when we do help our DD and her H buy their first house, we're going 2 have our lawyer draw up an agreement whereby they refi after a specified reasonable period of time and buy us out of our investment. Or sell. -ol' 2long
