I think this is a very important thing for you to do. He really snowed you when you confronted him.
Are you making any plans if you do catch him? Please think this all through. Are you meeting all of his needs? Are you implementing Plan A? You can do that WHILE you are investigating the situation.
How will you feel if you get proof? Can you be patient if its inconclusive? You don't want to go through another denial.
