I used one of my gf here at work as a reference on the WGL questionairre, and the WGL sent her her own questionairre about us. She shared the responses with me....
I am pleased...very pleased....I love my friends....they might not understand, but they are very supportive!
Here is her letter:
[color:"red"] Dear WGL (but she was kind and called her her name, not WGL),
I received your questionnaire and am typing my responses, as my handwriting tends to be difficult to read. (FTR: my gf is a scientist...haven't met one yet with legible handwriting).
1. My relationship to xxx (the Wookie): I work with the Wookie's wife, Kim. She began working for the same company as I do in January. Since then, we have become friends and I have gotten to know her husband as a result. He often picks Kim up from work and I have spent time with them at their home. Whenever he compes to pick Kim up, we talk and joke around a bit. He's always very nice and fun to talk to. We've watched movies together and barbequed. I have always had a great time with him and his family. My biggest regret is that I don't spend more time with them.
2. What I like most about the Wookie is that he is very patient with the children. I don't have that kind of patience and envy those that do. He will play a game with his son even though it is obvious that he is tired. If the children are disrespectful, he has them apologize. He spends a great deal of time with them and seems to enjoy them: being around, playing, and getting underfoot.
3. Areas of his life that seem to cause him difficulty; personal weaknesses that seem to add to his problems. The obvious would be his previous relationshipt with the mother of his two youngest children. That has definitely caused some problems between him and his wife, which they seem to have worked out. I have asked her why she stayed with him and I was very skeptical about the reality. Seeing them together and spending time with them, it is redily apparent that they love each other, he is truly repentant, and they absolutely adore their children, all of them.
4. Personal and work relationships? I don't know about his work relationships but he seems to have a very close relationship with his brothers. I've met one of his brothers and have heard many stories about the others. I believe his mother passed away a few years ago and that he has a couple of sisters. I don't know much more than that.
5. From what I have observed from spending time at their home, the Wookie's relationship with this children is very close. They are very comfortable with talking to him and asking him questions. They listen to him when he disciplines them. I have never seen him raise a hand to any of the children or yell at them, even when he was obviously angry.
6. His parenting strengths are, as I wrote previously, that he is very patient with the children. He listens to them when they are talking to him. He makes time to listen to them instead of ignoring them as some adults would.
7. His parenting weaknesses are the same as any father of daughters would be. He handles it pretty well, but having a young pre-teen daughter is difficult for any father, especially one going through a girly phase. My father was my best buddy up unitl I began to develop. A similar situation seems to be occurring here, but he appears to be dealing really well with it.
8. I have absolutely no concerns or reservations about a child residing in his home.
9. All I know about the children's relationship to their other parent has been what I've heard from Kim or seen while I've been at their home. The children call Kim mom and redily go to her. They are always happy and friendly when I come to visit. They're not unhappy or crying. Other than that, I have no direct knowledge or contact with the other parent.
10. The concerns I have about the children residing in the other parent's home are about what I've heard from the Wookie and Kim, about the abusive boyfriend of the other parent, the children's health (ie: headlice), and the belief that they'll be punished for bedwetting. I have never met the other parent nor been in her home.
11. My choice regarding the children's residence would have to be for them to be with Kim and the Wookie. I see how they care for and treat these children. They are a very loving and wonderful family. They never belittle or ignore the children. There are always kisses and hugs and a lot of "I love you". This is a wonderful family and I feel fortunate to be able to spend time with them.
12. I hope that the Wookie and Kim get custody of the children. I think it is in their best interests, theirs and the children's. This whole process has been very stressful and nerve wracking for the family, the resolution of which is greatly anticipated. I believe that the Wookie and Kim will provide a loving and nurturing environment for the children to grow up in as it is already in place.
If there is anything I can do to help in this process, please don't hesitate to call me.....
Sincerely,
Kimmy's gf [/color]
Please note, any typos or what not are MINE, as I'm trying to type this as fast as I can since this website will time out and I'll loose the whole kit-n-kaboodle....
