for anyone who hasn't followed my previous threads, the latest one is here...
http://www.marriagebuilders.com/ubbt/sho...part=1&vc=1

I haven't posted in a while, so I'll try to update without writing a book.

As I stated last time I was here, I found out my W had made another attempt to contact om. I was trying to decide whether or not I should confront her about it, as I had done 3 times before when I caught her. I felt confronting her wouldnt help, so I chose to not do so in hopes that she wouldnt do it again. Luckily, I'm happy to say she hasnt tried to contact him again.

As far as counselling goes, we've now both been to the counsellor twice, she went alone twice and I went alone twice.

The IC/MC asked us to come together on the third meeting, and told us to write down 3 very specific things that we wanted to see the other change, or work towards making better...

This session, our first one together, was yesterday.

First theing MC wanted was to see our lists.
My list:
#1 - I wanted W to stop trying to convince me to move, and to stop holding the grudge about not moving and stop the guilt trips about it AND her so called "hellish" 7 yrs of marriage.
#2 - I wanted to set 1 day a week for the family to do something together, and 1 day a week where my W and I do something as a couple.
#3 - I wanted my W to be more responsible with money, and stop spoiling our children as much as she does.

Her list:
#1 - she wanted me to be more open minded about moving.
#2 - she wanted me to be more involved with inlaws.
#3 - not sure if she had a 3rd....

Now, first thing the MC did was he pointed out that #1 on bother of our lists were the same subject, just opposite needs.
He asked my W to tell him the reasons she wants to move and why she hates living where we do.
her reasons:
1 - lives to far from mother/sister
2 - she doesnt like the environment
3 - can't make any friends

The counsellor wrote those reasons down, then after a slight pause he looked up at me and said..
"Do you realize that these reasons have nothing to do with you?" I responded "YES"
He then looked at my W and asked her straight out...
"Do you blame your husband directly for your unhappiness?"
my wife ... "Yes, its his job that is keeping us in this town"
MC then asked her if she's done anything to try and fix the 3 problems on her own, she had no response.
he then clarified his point and asked her "If these 3 reasons could somehow be rectified without moving, would that solve this?"
my wife paused, and then answered "yea" with little to no enthusiasm.

he then moved on to #2 on our lists.....

MC asked me to explain what I wanted by #2. I said I wanted to do something like use sunday afternoons to always plan ahead and do something as a family, such as we all go swimming, hockey game, beach in the summer etc...
I also wanted to pick 1 night a week where my wife and I avoid each of our own hobbies and plan to do something as a couple. And if we cant afford or dont want to do something, we simply spend that night together watching tv or something. I said this would do 2 positive things, first off it would force us for the meantime to spend that time together, and it would also take the pressure off our personal hobbies.
He asked what I meant by pressure, and I told him that my wife spends numerous hours every day of the week out with her friends, and I spend numerous hours of my time doing my own hobby, such as playing online.
The MC than asked us to add up the time spent on each,,,
W told MC that she spends 2-3 hrs every weekday, and even more on the weekends out with her friends.
I told the MC I spend 2-4 hours online whenever I can, which normally works out to about 5 nights a week.
So, he added up hers and my time spend on personal hoobies and hers totalled 20-25, mine totalled 15-20.
My wife then interupted and said that she felt it was all good, since I already do play 4 or 5 times a week. I responded by asking her if she feels guilty when she goes out, she said no. I said "then why do you make me feel guilty every time I go downstairs to do my hobby, and again everytime I come upstairs for a break?"
she had no answer.
The MC then asked my W if she would agree to setting the 2 days for a family day and "date night".
My wife told the mc she couldnt agree to that because she can't get her head around the idea of having to schedule family time.
She then went on to say, "If I come home around 8pm after being out for coffee with her firends, why cant we just spontaniously do something?"
Well i nearly laguhed here.
but luckily the MC saw what I did and immediately challenged her...
he said " are these the same friends that you said you can't make earlier?"
She then defended herslef by claimging she doesnt even like her friends, and that they are more of a convenience.

I then told the MC that all I could see out of her statement is the fact that she is saying we should be doing things together when SHE is done with her friends/hobby... and when I would normally start my hobby, I shouldnt because she is there???
MC understood, but we unfortunately were almost out of time and still needed to talk about inlaws.

MC asked me what I felt about being more open minded to inlaws.
I said that it is not right that my wife just invites her family whenever she wants, and Im the last to know. I said its not right that I have no say in the matter, because if I did I would ask that she dont do certain things. One of those things is that I dont want her sister/mom comming to visit for 4 days with her dad comming at the same time (mom and dad are divorced) . Ive always told my wife that its uncomfortable for me to have people stay in my house for days, and/or when I stay at someone elses house for days. And its much much worse when theres a divorced couple.
i even told him that last year we had her sister, her mom, her dad, AND her moms boyfriend here. That to me is veeeery uncomforatble, and she doesnt respect that at all.

MC then turned to W and asked her to comment about what I said.

She said "I can't stand it when my family comes over to visit, and I know deep down that my husband doesnt want them there"
MC again challenged her. He immediately looked at me and asked me if I said I didnt like her family in my house of if I didnt like people in my house... I reassured him that I said "People".
He then asked my w if she realizes that if people in my house makes me uncomforatble, that shouldnt be an insult to her family,,,,, she had no response.

I then interupted and told the MC that I have many times in the past asked my W to tell her family that I DONT have probelms with them, its people in general and being stuck in my own house or someone elses house ...

at anyrate, I overcome this as I know its the right thing to do. BUT, my wife then tried to make me look like I was lying by telling the counsellor that I dont like her dad.

I told them straight out that her dad is a different story, and that she is correct, i dont like her dad.
he ask why,
I said he is stubborn, selfcentered, and before i could continue with more reasons my wife interupted and told the MC that her dad is extremely ignorant.
we then all came to the conclusion that the reasons I dont like her dad are THE EXACT SAME REASONS SHE DOESNT!
I mean she loves her dad ofcourse, but she complains about him all the time and hates the things about him that are the same things that make me dislike him.

For the rest of that day and night, she didnt say a word to me, other than "im going to my friends"

i dont think she liked be challenged, but she walked into it each and every time.

My honest feeling at this point is that she wont be going back to counselling.

I know its bad, real bad, but I felt like giving the MC a "high-five" when he was challenging her. I felt FINALLY, someone else sees how crazy she is and is challenging her on it... and the great thing is she cant react with crap and nonsence like she would if I was the one challenging her.

anyways, doesnt really look good.

oh, and guess whos comming over for the long weekend?

yup, sister, divorced mom and divorced dad. sheesh

Lang,

Feels good doesn't it.

Our MC is doing the same exact thing.

The He didn't say her family but people in general made me laugh a little.

Our MC has to correct my FWW like that too. He has said I don't know how many times now "I didn't here HL say that".

Good luck.

For me as you read it is a double edged sword.

If I could comment... I'm new to all this and not an expert. However! One thing I did learn is to get away from my thinking of "winning" or "right and wrong". If what I say or how I act makes my wife FEEL a certain way, then I need to recognize that and change my approach, or even be open-minded and accept some things.

When you call your wife "crazy", you may be looking to "win" and not really solve the problems YOU bring to the marriage.

I'm just sayin'...

I agree with you WaltW.

However I am not trying to use the counsellor to prove her wrong or myself right. I know what problems I bring to the table and the problems she brings. I've cleary made attempts and suggested ideas to overcome them , but I dont get anywhere.

The simple fact that my wife wouldn't agree to set 1 or 2 days/nights a week for family time/couples time, is a clear example of how I am trying, I am positive, she is not trying, she is not positive.

Point is, we are trying to make steps forward, and improve/fix the marriage.
My suggestion about planning days for time together was cleary a positive and good idea, and she refused because she feels it should be spontanious.

She wants things her way NOW, she doesnt want to move forward at any other pace.

So far it seems it was only a matter of time she would contact the OM. Why? Because she displayed the selfish WS attitude all along.

Do you see her babble?

Ws: I want to move t/b closer to my parents and sister (but I don't like dad over), then I don't have friends here but she had an A, says she spends many hours a week with 'friends'....., etc. Just babble. She talks in a very conflicting manner. But in her mind, she probably thinks she makes sense. Your MC is trying to help her see it but she won't. Why? Because if she admits she is not thinking straight, she would have to admit she is WRONG.

Btw, no matter whether you want to move or not, she will want the opposite of what you want. Try it, tell her the move or something she wanted you t/d is ok (make sure it really is something you can ok to), then see her reaction. If she balks the other way, you know she is still a WS. Then you will have to decide if you still want to live with a WS or need for the WS to leave.

Remember it is your W you should want t/b married to.

take care,
L.

The babble is neverending.

All I can think about is how much effort it took on my part just to get her to agree to counselling, and then as soon as the MC puts some things into perspective, instead of her working with me she shuts down and turns to OM.

Frankly I'm disugusted, and I truly think of her as just an all around horrible person.

What do I do now? Go see my MC? I truly want this over. Should I get some advice from MC or just go straight to a lawyer?

What do I file for? seperation?? are the special lawyers?

What to do? Go read Surviving an Affair, take the emotional needs questionnaire (once 4 u and 2nd time as her), call Jennifer C @ MB for some phone counseling for you 1st, secure your finances, go to the doctor (in case you need some ADs), pray for a clear mind and calm heart, setup your personal support group (include your children), identify your personal boundaries (this should be a short list but will take time to figure out), set a goal of putting your mind and heart in sync.

Then go check out your D or separation options.

Looks like you've got a lot t/d. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Lang,

Step back from the ledge a little, take a breath then decide what you want to do. Make the decesion Saturday morning.

Like you told me yesterday sometimes a little time is needed to clear your head. it is a rollercoaster.

She may actually be testing you.

well here's what I did.

First, I went and saw the counsellor alone, explained the situation, and he really couldnt help me much.
I then consulted a lawyer to find out where I sit.

Then lastnight, I told W I saw a lawyer and that I want to separate.
She, as I expected, responded by telling me I would have to leave.
She said that several times through the night, but I stood my ground each time and told her I am not leaving, and she doesnt have to leave. I kept suggesting we work together on plans to move forward, and try our best to consider the kids first, before our personal issues.

I confronted her on emailing the OM, and beleive it or not, she actually tried to tell me that the only reason she emailed him was in hopes that I would see the email. She claims she was hoping I would see it, because she did it out of spite and wanted to upset me.
I told her there isnt a chance of me every beleiving that pile of bs, but I also asked her that even if it was out of spite, or to "slap me back in the face" as she put it, what was it in retaliation to?
She said that my idea in the counselling session to make 1 or 2 nights a regular family/date night was like a slap in the face to her.
So,
I make a positive suggestion to help the marriage...
she takes it as a slap in the face and emails OM to "get me back". well, thats what she says anyways.

at any rate, after alot of the same ol same ol, lots of crying on her part, something happened...

She looked me in the eyes and told me that she thinks she may be bi-polar.
I then told her that I already suggested that possibility to our counsellor, and I have also talked with her family in the past to see if there was any BP in the family.

I told her I would not file for seperation if she agrees to go see a doctor, and continue weekly counselling.

She happily agreed.

I do not beleive it is a pile of BS. I really beleive that is why she did it.

I think she picked that issue about family night because it was the easiest. Why think hard about why she is trying to retaliate. LOL. She is mad at you so she does those things.

Not really all that logical but it is probably the truth.

Next you have finally hit it on the head. It is not until many BS finally have had enough does the FWS finally decide to take it seriously.

Remember now is your time to set these boundries(which you have) and stick to them. You cannot backslide.

Good luck and congrats on the progress

Well,
since last week when W made apppointment to see doctor,
this is whatshappened....
the long weekend was long and boring, her sister/mom/dad came in for tahnksgiving.

Everyone left Monday.
Monday afternoon my W asks me "so how often do you check my computer?"
this ofcourse makes me suspicious. she also called me from a friends house and asked me how to look at "cookies" on the coputer. she claimed her friend needed to know.

so again, im even more suspicious.

at any rate, I did find out one thing for sure.
The OM replied to my wifes email from last week on monday.
my W had checked her email monday afternoon, seen that he replied, but did NOT open the message.
i know this cause of the keylogger, it takes screenshots for me.
unfortunately, I also know that she did infact read the email at her firends house. gah which obviously leads me to beleive that she replied to him.

wehn she got home from her friends, while I was donwstairs,
she went on to her computer and changed all of her email passwords, windows passowrds etc...
she changed her cokkies and temp internet files settings as well.

I lost it with her that night and almost called it quits.

BUT,
the next day (yesterday) was her appointment with the doctor so I just let it go for the time being. I was upset, and she knew, but thats where i left it.

Now, as for the appointment,
my W was in the doctors office for 30 minutes. It only took 30 minutes for the doctor to do the following:
1 - pre-diagnosed her with Bipolar.
2 - sent in urgent request for an appointment with mental health phsychiatrist.

the doctor also gave her a prescription seddative at the request of the Phsychiatrist.
our doctor siad he didnt want to "label" her yet, but he is almost positive it is Biploar.

smirk

Its a very odd feeling when bad news brings so much releif.

bad news that she may be bipolar, but so much releif because it explains the way she has been.

yikes, there may be hope for us yet....

get this, her family pretty much said things like "well how do you know you have that" or, "are you sure it isnt just depression" etc...

her family is severly lacking in the support area. sheesh
