Maybe I've just been hanging around these boards too long, but I have a very strange feeling about that plane crash today that took the life of NY Yankees player Cory Lidle.

There was a woman flying with him. She has been identified only as "a flight instructor". It's been many hours now and she has not been identified by name. It's barely even mentioned that she was there - almost as if somebody was trying to cover it up.

Wouldn't you think this other poor person who was killed would also be identified and talked about, especially if they really were the flight instructor supposedly helping Lidle?

His own twin brother even said that he did not know Lidle was flying today.

Let's hope I'm totally off the wall here. Cory Lidle's wife and 6-year-old son have enough to deal with right now.

I'm not sure where you got this information, but the news says the flight instructor was a man. They mentioned his name on the news, but I forget what they said.

It was a woman flight instructor. They did not give her name as far as I have heard yet.

You know when I heard about this I thought something completely different.

I thought how weird life can be at times. How if certain things would have happened others wouldn't have.

When I heard about it all I could think is that if the heavily favored Yankees(they are my team BTW) would have beaten the Tigers Corey Lidel would have been on the mound and not in the air.

How one event as stupid as the outcome of a playoff series would have changed what happened next. He would have been at Yankees stadium yesterday getting ready for the game against Oakland. Instead the Yankees lost the series and he was in a plane.

The flight instructor was a man. You are right eldente his name was Tyler Stanger.

This was a tragic accident that took the life of 2 people. Their families deserve prayers.

Okay, you got me this time. First reports were that it was a woman (I heard this several times). Funny how all this totally changes your perceptions of things, doesn't it?

Mulan... what difference would it have made if it were a female instructor? Your comments and insinuations are very disrespectful to a family that just suffered a tragedy. As if you have some reason to think he was involed in something dishonorable. Not the type of post I would expect from a longtime MB veteran.

sorry, medc - all day yesterday I heard that he was flying with a woman whose identity was kept quiet until nearly 24 hours later - when yes, it did turn out to be a male flight instructor. The news stories kept saying it was a woman but refused to give a name. That's why the red flags went up.

But that's okay. In my husband's family, there is one very troubled boy who is clearly not the son of his mother's husband. Nobody says a word about this. H also has two older siblings whose fathers are completely unknown. The murmured story is that "they just didn't work out." I'm betting that the fathers were married men and the two older siblings are OC. Again, nobody ever talks about this. It's like it never occurred to them.

Did you know that according to some news reports, some 10-15% of all babies born do not have the fathers they are said to have? In other words, 10-15% of all babies born are OC.

Yes, I do look at the world much differently now. I'm not as naive as I used to be.
