Lurking, commenting occasionally, but knowing I didn't belong here, just quite yet. That's been me here on this board - until NOW.
My D is final now, as of Oct 10. (I just found out a couple of days ago, so didn't even get to enjoy the day!) I have been living here in my new house since Dec 2004, so the breakup and separation parts were well underway. Though the official part is pretty new, being on my own is not.
I don't know what I want to do now. I'm not dying to start dating but I do want to listen to what everyone else is saying. And doing. 'Cuz I'm now one of the "divorced and not remarried" - which is apparently a new marital status according to a legal document my attorney sent me.
I guess I'm just gonna keep on living my life the way I have been. For now. See what unravels. How have the rest of you approached starting your new lives?

Deja Vu, I don't think Congratulations is quite appropriate in the whole divorce setting. So, I'll say, Happy New Life.
It is such a weird feeling when the divorce is final. We waited for that day to come once the decision had been made, yet there was little to celebrate.
Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Welcome to the A/D board.

Thanks Karona,
You're right - it's not about celebration, but perhaps a sigh of relief? That the legalities are over with, the worry about what more he'll come up with, gone and over with.
Yeah it's a weird feeling, especially since we've been apart so long now that it hardly felt like I was married anymore. More like I had an appendage hanging from my leg weighing me down so I couldn't move forward. I feel like I've just had surgery, and the thing has been removed.
Cheers! But unlike AGG, I'm not sitting in a cave or drinking any beer! Yup, I've started reading the posts here...

I feel like I've just had surgery, and the thing has been removed. Yikes, you may want to rephrase this... <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> But unlike AGG, I'm not sitting in a cave or drinking any beer! Yup, I've started reading the posts here... Hey, I resemble that remark!! Just 'cause I'm sitting in my cave, doesn't mean I don't read the posts here - my cave has high speed internet access!! Welcome to the A/D forum, Deja Vu! Nice to have you here. AGG

OK, I've had a limb amputated. I've been feeling out on a limb for a long time anyway. How's that?
High speed Internet in a cave, huh? But, do you have wireless?
