i know this has nothing to do with mb'ing but i need some info. my son is choosing this as his career, and we need some info on schooling. im getting so many mixed things i figured if i could speak to someone actually in the field, it would help.
as far as schoolong....ive gotten info on everything from chubb institute to college. son is leaning toward chubb and then continuing on in college. i guess my question is....will he really be job ready from chubb? what are the companies looking for in hiring? what type of credentials does one need?
he loves graphic design and is also thinking of going to college to become an art teacher. wants to do the graphic first...so he can support himself while going to get his art/teaching degree. any thoughts on this plan?
thanks so much for any info....

Hi Nikko!!!! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> You might want to give a shout out for Fraggles but do it on the Recovery board. I don't know if she checks in there often but it's worth a shot. I can give her the heads up if you don't get the info you need before then. Hope all is well with you guys these days! KB

A major in Marketing with a minor in graphic arts will be incredibly employable. Graphic arts by itself will have less demand and lower pay - but he can start out as a marketing assistant with the ability to create print and internet graphics and animation... move up the ladder very quickly - to VP Marketing at some major corporations. It's all in the set up, and how good he is at communicating and leading other graphic artists.
I was offered 36k a year as a marketing assistant with the company I work for in sales - that's a low priced market compared to LA, San Fran or East Coast. I have a teaching degree, but used to be up to my eyeballs in graphics via commercial printing and newspapers. A family member made $15 per hour in ad graphics for a major daily newspaper in this same wage market.

Forgot to mention - my assessment of this pay difference between major in graphic arts, compared to a dual major is from seeing an extremely talented (and fast) graphic arts graduate be unemployable, where business grads with minor degrees in graphic arts were getting hired instead.
