One of my spouse's biggest ENs is me being confident. We weren't sure if that played into PA but either way it's not something that I seem to be able to change as easily as my hair style, clothes, weight, etc. I have low self esteem to begin with and we're not talking one particular area of my life - just confideness in general. Any good books or resources someone can recommend? Or is this something better left for counseling? Thanks in advance and merry christmas.

make a list of your accomplishments

be generous with this list

make a second list of things you want to try to do

pick one or two off the second list & make them part of the first list within a month or so (depending on what it is )

then

keep adding to both lists

confidence comes from within
by knowing you can try new things and master new things if you are willing to make enough effort

success is at your fingertips

counseling can backfire and reduce confidence ... some counselors delve into past failures and past hurts ... and you come out of counseling feeling MORE damaged and LESS confident

(edit to add) ... and then , of course, you need MORE counseling ... *ca-ching* $$$

beware of counselors who stress/press/focus on "core hurts" over behavioral changes
