While reading the online profiles of various women I have come across some words and phrases they describe themselves with that confuse me. Perhaps the women in our group can explain to me just what they mean.

"I look younger than my years"

"Friends say I look younger than my years"

"financially independent"

"I'm bored"

"Lots of fun"

"libidinous"

"not so conventional

"being wealthy would be the best match for me"

"easy to look at"

Later I may ask what certain words mean when used to describe the men they want. But, let's start with this first.

"I look younger than my years" can mean she actually does look younger than what she is or that she is vain and only SHE thinks she looks younger than what she is. or, she is embarrassed about her age. "yea, i am 47 but i look 30 for those of you men who want a younger woman"

"Friends say I look younger than my years" see above

"financially independent" she wants you to know she doesn't need your money, she can take care of herself. Good for her!

"I'm bored" dunno... bored with what she has been dating maybe?

"Lots of fun" could mean lots things, i'd ask to elaborate on that. a nice church girl can be lots of fun.. so can a stripper!

"libidinous" wtf? have no idea

"not so conventional" i see that as, she is not the stay at home miss domestic type. or, maybe she swings both ways?? anything BUT conventional.

"being wealthy would be the best match for me" ok, unless you make big bucks, don't bother contacting this one! that is pretty blunt.

"easy to look at" she is not drop dead gorgeous but not a dog either..

those are my female opinions.

Oh, libidinous I know! It means she's horny all the time.

Financially indepenent usually means one doesn't have to work for money, just live off the interest. However, it could simply mean "I have my own money, don't want yours." I'd worry about this one though. It seems like TMI for an online profile. After all, you wouldn't share that at a cocktail party.

"Look younger than my years" is vaguary unless there's a picture and a ligitimate age listed. I'm older than I look, but I wouldn't list that. This comment would suggest the individual is insecure about her age. Same with men.

So, which one are you going for?

"I look younger than my years" She's really old and THINKS she looks younger than her years...She's really old and really does look younger than her years.

"Friends say I look younger than my years" See Above

"financially independent" She doesn't need a man to survive and wants a man who is likewise.

"I'm bored" Married and bored as ****** in her marriage

"Lots of fun" She's an animal in bed. See Below

"libidinous" li·bid·i·nous
–adjective
1. full of sexual lust; lustful; lewd; lascivious.
2. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of the libido.

"not so conventional See Above

"being wealthy would be the best match for me" She's looking for a Sugar Daddy.

"easy to look at" Not ugly

This is how it would be in LA:

Quote
"I look younger than my years"

"Ain't plastic surgery great?" Or, alternatively, "My eyesight is so bad I can't see myself age over the years - hopefully yours is bad too"

Quote
"Friends say I look younger than my years"

"My friends' eyesight is as bad as mine"

Quote
"financially independent"

Seen different sides of this. Could be anything from "I can support myself" (rare) to "I want you to think that I can support myself so that you won't think I want a sugar daddy", or anything in between.

Quote
"I'm bored"

Danger, Will Robinson, danger! "I have no life and want someone to take me out and show me a good time (at their expense, of course, because I am the girl"

Quote
"Lots of fun"

See above. You still have to pay .

Quote
"libidinous"

"Horny. But will put out only if you show me a good enough time".

Quote
"not so conventional

Red flag. Stay away. Psycho.

Quote
"being wealthy would be the best match for me"

Duh. Idiot.

Quote
"easy to look at"

Hmmm. Could be anything from "I am easy" to "I am not too ugly". This is rarely a good thing.

Again, take this with a major grain of LA salt (right mlhb?).

Here's my take,similar to the other's:

"I look younger than my years"

- Could be true but who knows, people lie all the time.I am 41 now and look 31.Not just my own personal image but I get told all the time how young I look to have kids and my skin looks so great, etc, etc. But only seeing in person would really tell a story.Healthy living does have an impact IMO

"Friends say I look younger than my years"

- Same as above

"financially independent"

-Could be good news. The last thing you want is someone really needy who is broke. Not to say that some day you couldn't share expenses if things progressed to that point.I am financially independent too and I like it that way.

"I'm bored"

- Agree with AGG. Red flag here. I would want to know if she is married.

"Lots of fun"

-Again, a personal interpretation.Maybe she is and likes to live life to the fullest.Interaction would be key to know for sure if she were compatible with what you like to do.

"libidinous"

- NOT a good sign.I wouldn't respond to someone who describes themselves this way.

"not so conventional

-Intriguing? Maybe, or another red flag.

"being wealthy would be the best match for me"

- Gold digger? Don't like this description.I wouldn't go there.

"easy to look at"

-Maybe.What's tough to look at? Not quite sure what she means unless she's trying to convey she is attractive.

If you put a picture up, why do you have to say "easy to look at"? I prefer "easy on the eyes" anyway.

I myself am conventional, but quirky. However, I would never plaster that across the internet where someone I know could see me!!!!!

My turn!

"I look younger than my years"

"Friends say I look younger than my years"

Gawd I hate getting older. I'm keeping my age at the level I stopped mentally growing. PLEASE tell me I don't look my age.

This goes for men & women.

"being wealthy would be the best match for me"

MUST have lots of money & be willing to spend it on me.

"financially independent"

This I like. If it's true it means just what it says, she pays all her bills & has some to spare.

"I'm bored"

I don't have any hobbies or interests to pursue & I want you to entertain me.

"Lots of fun"

If you entertain me we can have fun. Or if I were feeling mean, I'm a perky party girl who's always happy when you're spending money so we can have FUN.

"libidinous"

horny

"not so conventional"

kinky

"easy to look at"

not a dog, my mom & my friends tell me I'm pretty.

Guess I'm feeling naughty today! I'll have to go search out some of my favorites that I see on men's profiles. Here's one:

I'm spontaneous!

Oh, spontaneous! That's the kiss of death.

Translation is "I can never make plans. I hate any sort of commitment, but I'm smart enough not to say that."

How about fun-loving? Or "young at heart"?

It seems the people who say young at heart don't mean viewing the world with child-like innocence. They mean partying like they're 22 still.

LOL GG! Yeah, I've found spontaneous means exactly that. Plus, depending on who says it, my time is more important than yours. If I happen to find time to fit you in I'll give you a call.

Depends who says fun loving. When reading some profiles you can tell they've rarely had a "fun day" that wasn't also filled with anxiety about schedules, money, time, what have you. They are looking for someone to create fun for them. ex was one of these.

Young at heart: What you said plus a hint of MLC.

Maybe we should put together the MB manual to deciphering profiles?

Oh, yes!!!! The MB date vetting service. You all come here, tell us the Match screen name you are considering, and we'll analyse it for you. If it passes you have our permission to contact them. Then, report back, and we'll start keeping tabs on the winners and losers.

Man this could be FUN!

Tee, hee! Love the idea GG!

Here's another:

No liars or cheats!

Ah yeah, I think we'd all agree we don't want a relationship with these people. Should go without saying. When I see that I think they are not ready to date. They have not gotten over the betrayal forced on them & they need more time to heal.

I remember reading on man's profile that had been on for quite a while. He'd recently changed the picture so I took another look. All he did was rant about women not responding or playing games or being misleading or dishonest in their profiles. I thought, wow bud, maybe they read the anger between the lines in your first profile & stayed away for good reason.

I haven't been on an online service for almost two months. Once things settle down after the holidays I'll probably go back on Match.
