Hello again and thank you for helping me. It is always so deeply appreciated. Without this site, I would be so lost and lonely. I have a question regarding the basic search in the computer. When I have typed in key words in the past few weeks, let's say for example...yahoo mail as a key word. It did, a few weeks ago pull up H's yahoo accounts. But, it isnt showing up anymore. NONE of his accounts...they have simply vanished. Also other key words which have worked in the past regarding porn and such ....whatever I have found is now no longer there! I cant find the links and the websites I ran into just a few weeks ago. My questions are two: Can H be deliberatley deleting these?? I am assuming he knows what I have been looking for. I have tried to be careful to delete my searches, but I dont know...he must know. 2nd question: If I install google desktop...if he has deleted those links in the search area, will google desktop still enable me to view them again and discover more? Does the basic search on the computer really yeild good results in itself, or is it just ineffective in pulling up every file on a particular keyword?? Would google desktop be more efficient. Remember, I cant legally install any software on his puter, so I am so limited...that is why I am reaching out. I really hope I am making sense, everyone. Thank you once again for all your help out there! You are my angels on earth! Emma

Well, one thought. If you can't 'legally' install software on his computer, is it 'legal' for you to be accessing it at all? Not judging here...just something that you might want to be VERY careful about, or it'll bite you in the butt.
Is it a work computer? If so...maybe you should contact his boss, tell them that you've got a concern that he's using it for something 'inappropriate'...and suggest that THEY review his computer usage for something inappropriate. Most companies have well defined policies on stuff like that.
If it's 'illegal' for you to put a keylogger on his computer, then it's probably illegal for you to install ANYTHING on his computer. Same concept...be careful.
As far as doing keyword searches...perhaps HE has some kind of keylogger on it and has tracked what the key words are you're searching on, and has been doing a similar search to do clean up after himself? Or there are 'washer' programs that he might have installed that could be doing that kind of deletion for him.
I'd suggest you come up with a new list of keywords and see what you get back that way. Otherwise, you may have to examine other avenues.
Digital recorder in his car. Ditto for one attached to a phone in the house that he uses. If he has a personal cell phone, get access to the online invoice for it. If he works with anyone you can trust, have them 'slip in' and check up on him periodically. Take a look at websites he frequented in the past if he used myspace or something similar...do keyword searches on the internet with his name, common usernames or email addresses that he has used in the past...see if you can find a geek in the area that you live who might be able to give you some 'hands on help' in figuring out ways to access info on that computer...if you can do it legally.
Just some ideas.

Hello, Thank you for your response; It is appreciated. How do I go about figuring out if he has a "washer" installed?? I didnt realize that was a possibility; so thank you for the heads up on that. Is there a way to find it if there is one? Also, how do I find out if there is a keylogger installed?? I dont know WHERE to look for the manual ones...and certainly dont know where to look if any software has been installed. Any Ideas how I can search for these? H is going on vacation (without us) next week...so, I have a 3 week opportunity to get to the bottom of things and want to use my time very wisely. All I know, is things just dont "feel" right, and I have learned to listen to my intuition. Thank you for taking the time to help me. Emma

If he's going to leave you alone with the computer for a couple of days, then I'd suggest that you either have a friend who IS computer savvy come over and look at it, or contact one of those 'Geek Squad' type companies and pay to have a professional help you. There are too many things to look at and it would be too hard to try to help you via this forum or email.
If you're REALLY concerned about it, hire someone who has the skills to help you figure out if anything is going on or not. Or find friends who have those skills to help you.
Not blowing you off...just not much that can really be done without sitting in front of the computer in question.
