Geez, where do I begin? Well, we met when I was in the army and stationed in Korea and met a woman I fell in love with pretty much right away. After about a year of friendship, we started dating and eventually got married a couple of years later. We eventually moved back to the United States and things were alright. She had some trouble adjusting, but eventually, things normalized (or so I thought). She was, apparently now, unhappy about some aspects of our situation.
About two years into our marriage, we had a baby. Things improved as the new baby seemed to distract her from other problems. It was obviously a temporary fix.
Eventually, I was deployed overseas and my wife decided to take the oportunity to go back to Korea to stay with her family. She found a job there and things were cool. It was all part of the plan that we had agreed on. After a year, we'd move back to the area we had been living in and get working on our careers. Start building some perminance.
The time came and she didn't want to leave her job right away. That was fine, since I hadn't found one yet. Time passes... and passes... well... it comes out that she wants to stay in Korea. She hadn't done a very good job at communicating that to me. That's a shame, really. Because I don't care if we live here or there. I would have moved and been happy.
In the mean time, there was a guy in her office that stared buying her coffee and lunch... then giving her rides to work. I didn't know about any of this. He pushed and pushed and eventually, she gave in and the affair started.
Well, at first I was furious and based on what she had told me, there was no chance of us working it out. Some hope has since come to my attention.
I'm willing to forgive this and get over it. I want to work it out, find a job in Korea and move there to be together somewhere she has a chance at happiness with the location. It really doesn't matter to me.
The kicker. She doesn't think we can do this because of the guilt. She can't look at me without feeling horrible (I can understand why). It's hard for me to believe that in a situation like this it would be her hang up keeping us apart and not mine.
How do I help her get over it?
