I was reading a post here about Narcissism a few days ago and was astounded at the similarities of this personality disorder and my H. IC has thrown out the words Narcissistic behavior about H before, but he's never actually been labeled or diagnosed with that. If you've dealt with it, how was it diagnosed? IC, Psych Doc etc. Also, what have you done about it and have there been any improvements? Intensive counseling etc.
I've got the book by Sam Vaknin coming called Malignant Self Love. Any other sites/books with useful information? Thanks

I don't know for sure - anyone who did have an NPD spouse probably ran screaming and is not posting here, because from everything I have read there is nothing you can do for NPD except learn to live with the situation exactly as it is, if you can stomach doing that.
Several of us are dealing with Passive/Aggressive spouses, which is somewhat similar. Sometimes this can be overcome and sometimes it can't. You may want to check the links in my sig line and see if they speak to you.

Can you elaborate coachswife? Did she receive treatment? This is all new to me. H is not diagnosed, but IC and I as well as my H see strong signs leaning towards it. Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated. I'm finding out that H has self-medicated himself for 20+ years. Regularly for about 8 years and I just got him out of a rehab 10 days ago. I had no idea of any drug use. Thanks for your help!

Awww, thanks SS. You are such a kind soul for taking me under your wing. You owe me nothing, but yet you offer so much. I just wanted to thank you sooooo much for everything you have done, for all of the insight that you have contributed to my situation. I really feel like I am a good person caught in a very bad situation. Thank you for seeing that. Things are "ok" here, but I know from experience that things can change in an instant. Thank you for having the guts to offer a hand in my extreme situation. Not really much new to update, but I will when there is. Thank you again SS - you are a kind, thoughtful, moral person.
