Hi ya'll,

Just an update, any doubt I had about making the right decision to work on engagement with J has now been erased completely.

We have spent more and more time together and he's getting to know the boys a lot more. Most of our weekends are spent with the boys too. We go fishing, go feed my younger son's pig, just your every day things.

J's been a big help but the main thing is this; The doctors say my dad is dying from cancer. It has been heart wrenching for me. J has been loving, supportive and wonderful through this sad event in my life. This weekend I flew home from Friday and stayed to Monday to be with my dad while J stayed at my house with the boys. He took them grocery shopping, took my son to the barn to feed his pig, ran errands with him and basically took all the stress off me so that I could concentrate on my mom and dad.

It's been a sad weekend but I have no idea how I would get through this without J's help.

I am so, so grateful to him and so glad I got back with him. Anyway, just wanted to give you guys an update. Sometimes things do work out the right way.

Anna

Anna,

I am sorry to read the sad news about your dad. I lost my mom in 11/05 to renal cell carcinoma. It was heart wrenching for me and I empathize with you.

It sounds as though J is a real blessing in your life. He sounds like a very special guy.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the kind words Fraulene & Lexxy. Just a fast update, my dad past away a little over a week ago. He was a good dad growing up, better grandpa and then an awesome great grandpa spending time with them playing outside, playing ball, etc.. I guess sometimes you really do get better with age.

I remember at the funeral thinking about how much it says about my dad to see so many grandchildren mourning his death as much as my sibblings and mom did. He has touched so many lives in such wonderful ways. There were people there who said they'd never forget times when they were down and my dad would come by and offer money or assistance to get them back on their feet. You find out a lot about a person after they are gone.

{{{Anna}}} So glad J can be there for you.

This time last year, I was flying back and forth across the country every 3-5 weeks to be with my dad, who was dying, basically of old age. On the 5th visit, I was able to spend his last 3 days with him and was with him when he died. I don't have a "J", but good friends who watched over things for me while I was away from home. Make the most of this final time with your dad because it will become a precious memory as it has for me.

Thanks again all for the kind, heartfelt words.

My two sons, J, my friends and the people at my work were all so wonderful through this. I have always considered myself to be blessed with good people surrounding me, but during this time, it really made me see just how incredibly blessed I am.
