He goes out once or twice a week for "a couple" which turns into a 5 to 8 hour event and cannot control his drinking intake. Then he drives home like that! I am terrified that something will happen to him or someone else [color:"blue"] [/color] . What can I do? He will not listen to me.

You need to go to Alanon.

Also I would take steps to protect myself financially, because if he does kill someone, the attorneys will go after your assets.

henley, your best bet is to call the police on him the next time he drives drunk. You could be saving his life and the life of an innocent person. Jail often is the wake up call an alcoholic needs to get help.

Hey Henley, to echo a little of what the other's have said. You may dang sure have a marriage problem but y'alls relationship can't even began to be worked on if your hubby is dead or in jail for killing someone. Thus, the priority is obviously the alcohol. As a recovering Alcoholic/Addict, I am an expert of finding ways and means to get and use drugs and alcohol but truly not on how to live with one. The experts on that side of the coin are the men and women in AlAnon. IF there are meeting in your area, get there tonight.

Oh and you may think Mel's answer is a little over the top but let me tell you something, I wish someone would have cared enough about me and known enough about me to get me arrested. It may have made a difference. But instead, I had a wreck. I ran into a bridge that I had passed a thousand times before, only this time it left me with 19 boken bones and 3 months in hospitals and nursing homes. Thank God that no one was with me and Thank God that no one was coming the other way.
