For those of you who have been at this sit longer than a year, you may remember my landmark article published last year regarding risk facotrs for marital infidelity. I have been away working on a follow up article....and saw interesting data have been uncovered. The full articvle will be released soon, but a preview is made available for your review.

Current risk facotrs for infidelity ( p value <0.5 )

1. Driving a truck (Ford F-150 type)(***MAJOR RISK FACTOR***)
2. Smoking
3. Military, law enforcement
4. Tobacco use (double for chewing)
5. HUNTING (***MAJOR RISK FACTOR***)
6. Blue collar work

Protective factors AGAINST infidelity

1. Driving a mini-van
2. Scrapbooking

Bowling has been removed from the list of risk factors for infidelity. After analyzing the data, we found that it was really just a confounding variable...alas, those of you whose spouses bowl...should relax.
More to follow.

Regards,

Sourmale, MD

HI!!!! SM I am so glad to see you! Was just thinking about you and missing your tell em like it is style! .
Well now you tell me! Could have saved myself a lot of trouble.
5 out of 6 for the Dork and if you substitute fishing for Hunting it's a 100%, Though I'm not sure you that you meant to put smoking and tobacco on twice. Chewing the stuff is just too nasty to contemplate. ICK ICK ICK.

But I am printing this off as a list to use as reference once I am through the D.

This article will never pass peer review if you do not include the study design!

And how about some inclusion/exclusion criteria!?

Yep..as BR is asking...

It does seem that social class, educational level and economic bracket does matter. My FWH does not have any of those RISK FACTORS..considers SMOKING unhealthy...works out daily..no fried foods... a businessman who tries to demonstrate the "ATTRACTOR FACTOR"so definitely does not drive a TRUCK , military/law/enforcement is a certain economic bracket..are you talking officers or enlisted?.. same for tobacco use as smoking..the man would get a dental cleaning every month if possible ; OMG, can you wear JOHNSTON & MURPHY'S while HUNTING? ..

In other words, what are the the RISK FACTORS for WHITE-COLLAR MIDDLE-AGED MEN????

For that group or any other, I think the real risk factors are as follows:

1) Big Failure. "My life sucks, so I deserve to have some fun."

2) Big Success. "My life is GREAT, so I deserve to have some FUN!!!"

In my very white-collar WH's case, it was the Big Success that destroyed our relationship.

So then mediocrity is the Holy Grail of fidelity.
