I was at 20 mg of Lexapro a day.

Three weeks ago I began running again 3 - 4 times a week. Last week I began reducing my Lexapro intake and am at 10 mg a day. I have noticed that I will have about one difficult moment of anxiety a day that will last between 1-2 hours. If I get a down moment, I try to go running. Cause if I'm miserable, at least I'm burning calories.

So, I am self conscious enough to watch myself and have FWH, my mom, sisters, just watch my mood. I've even told them ideas of how pick me up.

But today, I just realized that maybe vitamins are a good idea.

Any one else have any recommendations?

Talk to the doctor who prescribed it.

Yep, talk to the doc. I weaned myself off Zoloft, by doc's directions, and really had no problems. But if you don't do it correctly, there can be problems.

Okay, so you talked to the doc. Then I would continue on. While I was coming off, at times I felt kind of strange, don't know if it was all in my mind or what. But I just told myself that all was normal, and kept eating right and exercising.

I'm not a person who takes meds, and although the anti-D's really helped me, I was glad to be off of them.

How's your little girl?

You are going to be very emotional for the first month. Let your family be aware so they can support you. I would wait until you can control your emotions at 10mg before dropping all the way down.

Believer, you remember!

My little girl is amazing, although the word "Firetruck" is very dangerous on her lips. She will be 3 in June and her older sister is 4. Both love horses, ballet, and are little princesses.

I am not a person who takes meds either, although they really helped me. I am ready.

Wow, how time flies.

Jim says you might be emotional, but that never happened to me. I was more like unmotivated, but that worked out too. Might be the difference in the meds.

JM,

Nice input. Glad to know someone else was emotional.

Believer,

I've had a little taste of unmotivation. It shows itself the most in my weakness: the laundry.

Taking Omega 3 Fish Oil is a natural remedy that works for many...There are quite a few health benefits to it...Just Google "+Omega 3 Fish Oil +Depression" and gobs of info comes up...If you decide to try it, I would recommend buying the ones that are coated/burpless to avoid the dreaded "fish burps"!

Mrs.Wondering,

My new hobby is killing fish! However, I have had little success with the Beta. They seem to be pretty hardy as long as they are alone.

Great idea! I'll google.

My W went off Lexapro last year. It took a while. For her, the trick was to ramp down slowly and over an extended period of time.

She started at 20mg and went down to 10mg for a month...that seemed okay. But when she tried to jump from there to 0, she got bad headaches, a bad temper, and trouble sleeping due to general anxiety. She tried 0 one day and 10 the next, alternating, but it was too erratic for her. I suggested she go to 5mg a day and stabilize there...she grumbled about having to cut the pills that fine, but it smoothed things out for her and she was able to do it.

She *does* still have a temper and stress, but then she's a redhead and that comes with the territory

I was on Zoloft. I reduced my dosage by 1/4 pill each month after the time I'd normally get PMS. I wanted to ride through that first, then have three weeks to adjust to lower dosage w/o hormones acting up too.

I agree about the Omega 3's. I take Eskimo 3 (I keep it in the Freezer)...and Green Pastures Cod Liver Oil which is a good source of Vit A and D too. I also take Natures Way Sam-e..look it up (good for Mood, Joints and Liver). I also use Homeopathic remedies...for occasional insomnia because of anxiety etc...I take Kali-Phos 6X...it works in about 15-20 mins with no side effects.

B-vitamins are good for anti-stress.
