Did anyone see today's (Feb 1, 2007) article in the SF Gate on the San Fran mayor's affair scandal? Sounds like the mayor had an A with his deputy Chief of Staff's wife. What a low-life rat. It also said they did it when he (the mayor) was going through a divorce - don't know but I'd bet that was due to some other A. The entitlement mentality strikes again.
Hope the philandering mayor doesn't get re-elected!

Wow. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> But why was the mayor shocked? Wasn't he the OM? <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Yes, the mayor was the OM; perhaps he was shocked because: a) someone confronted him on his activities, or b) he had to face the ugly truth that he has zero integrity, or c) he could see the knife he'd helped place in his former friend's back.

I feel bad for the BS, but then as one, I sympathize w/ him.

He was probably "shocked" that his colleague and former good friend (the BH) confronted him. What a low life.

He was married to Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle.

I guess this is why their marriage ended.

Well how about the city attorney or someone? The thing that bothers me is that they were also friends, and then the mayor had an affair with the wife. And now the betrayed husband confronted him and resigned.

I really hope this guy doesn't get reelected in November.

It's San Francisco. Maybe we could start a wagering pool?

San Fran values seem to be contrary to what most people think is morally correct most of the time, so I'm betting he gets reelected, putting the "majority vote" stamp of approval once again on "the only standards that matter is what I want."

He'll be elected but certainly shouldn't. I disagree with those that say it's a private matter b/c he's proven he's dishonest and willing to advance his own interests above all else. Plus, what if it had never come to light but known by a few, then he'd be vulnerable to blackmail and corruption - would that have been good for SF?

I guess it depends upon how and where the majority of San Franciscans get their SF. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

No saying I disagree with the points of view here, BUT...

If the FWS in your relationship ran for office, do you feel they should not be elected due to past actions, that person is not trustworthy enough to be a solid elected official?

I don't think I can rate this one up there with the re-elected crack addict.

Given my observation of "your brain on fog"
there is NO WAY I would put someone into office unless it was in their distant past.

Photo of his affair partner

[Linked Image from sfgate.com]

Photo of Mayor and ex wife (Fox News "The Lineup" show)

Article had all the makings of an Affair....

1. An adulterous affair partner who is battling substance abuse.
2. Work related affair
3. Divorce from ex wife happened at the time of the affair
4. Betrayed a best friend
5. Mayor has been dating a 20 year old and he's 39

It is truly unbelievable at how all of these special relationships are so unspecial in the end.

Don't worry folks the mayor's job is safe. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> In "The City" by the Bay, such small things, as affairs, stabbing your staunchest supporter and friend in the back, are no big deal.

In fact, it won't hurt him state wide, and sadly it probably won't hurt him nationally. I am not saying a mistake in judgement should be a life sentence, but it is interesting to see all of the talk and the polls. He now has an 89% approval rating.

The only person that really got hurt in this is the husband. While he will continue to be paid from Newsom's campaign funds until he finds new employment, I would guess he will always be known as "the guy whose W had the affair with the mayor in San Fran." No matter what he does (divorce or stay married) he will be known more for that than his accomplishments. And don't forget the couple have a 2 year old child. Apparently born not too long before the affair started.

It really is a sad thing.
