Well, given the lame threads about starter wives, I suppose it's not too lame to share the statements of my two new Eharmony matches: I am deeply, madly, passionately in love with my new puppy. I am thankful for my dogs and the unconditional love they share with me! I guess I'll write back and tell them I'm a cat person?? AGG

Hmm. How about your Vietnamese Pig?
I once wrote about how I was totally infatuated with my new vacuum cleaner. I didn't let on it was a vacuum cleaner until the end, and K fell for it.
Point being that I wouldn't worry about the dog thing. Or maybe, you should.
I love my dog, too.

I'm not worried about it, I closed the matches. Why would I date someone who is already madly, deeply, passionately in love with someone else, two legged or otherwise? She should not overlap her relationships, doesn't she know that?

I love my dog also, but I would not put in my profile the "passionately in love" bit, there's something juvenile about it.
Who doesn't want unconditional love? You can only get that from a dog, but I'd leave that off my profile too.
I wonder what it is about you, AGG, that attracts the uber passionate dog lovers among us?

How about this, AGG:
A puppy is small and cute and needs cuddling and love. And that lady might be saying - 'Look at how I'm capable of loving passionatelly; I need passion, long nights of love and cuddling, to be madly in love, and all of that and even more I can give too, and I love my dog but I would love more a man, that's why I'm here, aren't I...' However, that kind of woman could be hysterical/hyper too, exaggerating things/happenings around her, drama queen... Unconditional love... isn't it the best thing someone can find (not that any one found it, that's why more value goes to it)... can mean - 'I can love unconditionally...' What an offer! (Whoever can believe that a (healthy) love is unconditional...)
The real message can be quite different, that is. It can be, in general, projecting a R they are capable of and are looking for through their R with their pets... No doubt the way of expressing it could/should be different. I.e. I wouldn't be bothered (so much) about her pets, but because of why chosen that way to send a message about herself...
The message can be what you do think it is, as well. I.e. you never know with women... <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

AGG, do you see any significance in nams' question about the dog lovers? Do they have something in common, or is it just coincidence? I've had both matches with and responses from what seems like a greater than average number of horse lovers, including pictures of the men with their horses. I don't mention my pets in my profile, so that can't be a factor. What do you think? Coincidence, a common trait, or, just a reason to close a match?

These women sound like wackos to me.
If you date them, at least save some money and use a discount coupon. Or, just buy a can of dog food, fry it up and serve it to them. Sauce for the goose.....

PLEASE send those "leftovers" my way..LOL... After WH blaming his many A's on my horse I think I better find a guy that truly has an understanding of the connection some of us women have with our horses. I would love to find a guy that rides, and enjoys spending time at the barn, being in the outdoors, rather than a guy that prefers to sit in front of the tv or on a barstool. So send them my way.......

Maybe I should have been more clear - I was not trying to analyze the meaning of why so many of my NMNK matches seem to be obsessed with their dogs (I already did that on another thread).
I was just amused by the "passionately in love with my dog" comment of my latest match, and wanted to share it with you.
But no, I will not date someone who is passionately in love with their dog, iguana, or python...

I think something happens when you don't have children and you are divorced or single. Dogs become very important or pets in general because you are lonely and alone and the dog is the only thing to keep you sane.
My fiance thinks it is OK for my children to cross a busy street chasing his runaway dog where I think the children should let the dog find its own way home and stay off the busy street.
He is worried for his dog - I'm worried for my children.
Do you see where the priority goes when there are no children? The dog becomes like a child - not second to a child. It's a whole 'nother emotional depth and attachment level because the dog becomes the sole outlet of affection and unconditional love for the lonely person without kids.

AGG - I would give the women a chance. If the women don't have children....they substitute the animals for this maternal part of life. I have 4 grown adult children....I have always been deeply committed to the pets in our family....while I was married. I am down to 1 dog and 2 cats and a bird after the divorce. Being a caregiver that I am....I can sincerely say to any man that I date that I love my animals....and care deeply for their health and welfare. They came into this family as a whole family...and when the family divided....I was the one that was left with the caregiving for all the animals. A man who gets to know me....knows that I love my animals...and knows that I know how to take care of them with the most deepest feelings. I just lost my oldest dog 4 weeks ago. He was 16 years of age...and yes it was difficult...having to put him to sleep. He was a big dog and lived well beyond expectations...I am proud to say his life was expanded with the great care and love that I give. I will always be there for the animals....and if I should find another man in my life...he will be shown the most deepest part of my heart with unconditional love.
There is obsession with many who do not have children in their lives. It is part of the maternal instinct....to treat pets as children. I just went on a weekend trip to a cold climate with much snow. I brought my dog...and I bought her doggy boots. I had so many compliments from people who were their for the winter festival....stating that my dogs feet were saved. For I saw many dogs lifting their paws with caked snow and cold. My dog was the hit...and she was smiling as people were commenting and petting her for her dry feet because of the boots. Many complimented me for having the compassion towards my dog and buying her boots. Many asked where I got them from...and I smiled proudly as my dog and I were taking on the festival with friends and all in the group were smiling with pride.
AGG....you can talk to me about pets and women if you want. I have my pets in perspective and love them dearly as pets. Just my thoughts....Amen!

AGG - Me thinks you should give the doggie lovin ladies a chance Date #4 with A is right around the corner. Does that count? BTW, there is no concern about women loving dogs (although being passionately in love with them is a bit over the top in my book). The one and only concern, as others alluded to, is that I have seen some (some, not all!) examples where childless women view the duties of a parent to be on the same level as the duties of a dog owner. Anyone who has had both will know the fallacy of that. AGG

You might be interested to know AGG, that today, as well as being valentines Day, is our dog's birthday. If those things weren't enough reason to celebrate, it's a snow day too. My boys are thrilled beyond belief. After eating some valentine candy first thing this morning they gave the dog a spoon full of peanut butter, her favorite treat.
The dog will get many birthday kisses & hugs today.
My youngest thinks he should always get her birthday off.

i went back to see all my matches from my Eharony, free trial, and all had dogs. . .
my take is this:
Dogs offer unconditional love, they have to in a way, and for some people, that fills a need that they can't get with human love. Human love demands much more than regular bowls of kibbles and bits. . .
these people may not be as able to provide enough human love of equality, communication, and emotional support to create a strong human relationship, and naturally pick up upon the unconditional love of a pet. . .
just my theory and i'm sticking with it. . .

Learning from your own mistakes creates experience, learning from books creates knowledge, combining the two together creates wisdom => You start with a full bag of luck, and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Maybe the women make a connection between dogs and men. NOT SAYING that men are dogs but more men are likely to have a dog than a cat, just thinking - have no proof. Maybe the women think that men prefer dogs therefore, if I show I like dogs, I am preferring something they would prefer.
I know I haven't been my most articulate but I hope you get my meaning.
