We finally signed a binding divorce settlement!!! It's just a matter of paperwork and going before the judge which should happen within the next two weeks.

What's funny but kinda sad is that WH spent over $2,000 on Tuesday for mediation just because he didn't want part of the settlement to be called child support. The mediator mentioned that WH's lawyer said he didn't want to do anything that would put his client in jail. (I'd have to go to civil court for unpaid settlement, but unpaid child support can get him thrown in jail.) I looked at her and said "So, in other words, he doesn't think his client will pay." I came down on the $ amount a little, but guess what. It's called child support.

Dead Beet Dad was something that crossed my mind too in the D process. Law alows fow extreem situations but to even have the Idea of not making sure your kids are taken care of is a sad thought.

Here in NJ Spousal and Child contracts are seperate.

LOL I actually came up on the $ because the last thing I wanted was X to be able to blame anything on me to the kids.

Just got the wierdest call from WH. He doesn't seem to understand that what we signed at mediation is binding, but he was nice. He was obviously wanting some sympathy. He didn't get it but we had a friendly conversation.

Apparently OW is pregnant and it sounds like he is in a bit of shock. WH's 45, has our settlement to pay off, child support to pay to 2 separate X's, has 3 college age kids, and makes less than $30,000 a year. OW is not a spring chicken so I expect it will not be an easy pregnacy (if she is not just faking). Several weeks ago he bragged about some money he will be getting after the divorce. Now it looks like the money will be gone very quickly. He has lost his family, job, reputation, and the chance of sitting on a boatload of money in retirement. I ALMOST feel sorry for him.

I'm going to have to quit LMAO before I go to church tonight.

Congratulations!

The relief is never as good as we all had hoped, but the fact that it is over is a huge weight off your shoulders.

It was a marriage that never really started.
