I was really struck by last night’s episode of BSG. This is without a doubt the best show on TV. Three story lines this season have really struck a cord with me. First, the episodes that dealt with marital infidelity were very poignant and it didn’t follow the typical Hollywood depiction of affairs which is usually a romantic affair between two people married to jerks. In this situation it was two people married to two very nice spouses who they were betraying. I really liked how Lee came back to his wife and asked for forgiveness. I hope they can show a realistic recovery process as the series continues.
I loved last night’s episode. The admiral reminisced about his dead wife. He spent the whole episode quietly and sadly observing their would-have-been anniversary. You find out later that they actually divorced. Yet, he still quietly observed their anniversary, still quietly grieving the loss of a marriage that wasn’t right from the start, but for a woman he still harbored feelings for. She was the mother of his children. In the end, he put the wedding picture away, to be pulled out another day. He acknowledged that he would probably always feel that way on that day, yet he yearns to move on on the inside.
I couldn’t relate more to the episode. My ex is a narcissistic woman who has re-written the history of our marriage and turned her back on her vows, our family, and our marriage. Yet, I still miss the woman and friend I was married to. The woman that comforted me and who I loved very deeply. I could really relate to the character, having had a very tough time this year on what would have been our 5th anniversary.
The side story of that episode also focused on family. The Chief and his wife nearly died and orphaned their son. In the end they’re all together in the hospital as a family and he vows to never let their son be at risk like that again.
Very touching stories all around.
Anyone else a fan here?

I watch it, until just before Lee and Cara started their affair with each other. I missed those because I had just found out about my STBXW had cheated on me, and I moved out taking the kids with me. Upon buying the episodes i missed, that part really disturbed me... them going at it, and Cara saying she still honored her vows to her husband... I almost threw up on my monitor.
I haven't seen last nights yet, but will.
Infidelity is all over it seems like. Before I found out my wife, mother of my children, was involved with someone else, I really didn't pay much attention to affairs. I of course looked down on it, but perhaps I pay more attention to it now that it happened to me.
Hollywood sucks.
"Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if you look in there and see a man who won't cheat, then you know he never will." - John Macdonald
