Three classic movie (B&W) to recommend that deal with infidelity:
1936: 'Dodsworth', Walter Huston, Mary Astor Man with entitled WW, results from being with same too long.
1939: 'The Women', Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford (as OW) Woman finds out about husband's A in a painful way. Friends and fiends involvement/catty...(no actual male characters)
1956: 'There's Always Tomorrow', Fred MacMurray, Joan Bennett, Barbara Stanwyck (as OW) Lonely H feels like he's been taken advantage of by wife and teenage kids, becomes vulnerable to OW...
I could watch these movies over and over again...and have.

Not strictly on topic, but how about:
1944: "Gaslight," with Charles Boyer, Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotton, Dame May Whitty, and Angela Lansbury. It's less about infidelity than about a technique (known today as "gaslighting") used by many betrayers. It's still a really, really good movie.

1939: 'Intermezzo: A Love Story', with Ingrid Bergman is another one.

There's an earlier "Gaslight" which is also excellent. (1940) Very different acting styles, also a wonderful study in the wayward's cruelty. The husband was not involved in an affair, but his denial of reality was same type as cheating spouses toward their faithful spouses.

I've seen the 1944 'Gaslight' with Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer, and Joseph Cotton.
I don't think I've ever seen the 1940 version. When I looked it up I didn't recognize any of the British actor's names. Do they show that one on TCM occasionally?

These two movies do not have adultry as a main plot, but kind of a sub plot. (I think anyway, been awhile since I have seen these, but remember liking them both alot)

Yes, The Apartment's good...seen it.
Then along similar lines to Dial M for Murder there is 1944's 'Double Indemnity', with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray...creepy.

Trix, I don't know whether they do. I ordered Gaslight on Netflix and got both of them.

That's interesting. Did you order both or did they just send you both so you actually got two for one? From your post it sounded like the latter.

I've seen Niagara with Marilyn Monroe....creepy.
Along the lines of Dial M for Murder is the 1944's 'Double Indemnity' with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray.
I tend to prefer 1930's and 40's movies to the darker film noir movies of the 1950's. My least favorite era were movies from the later '60's and early to mid to late '70's with the exception of Godfather...1972....a great movie.

Trix, I think the older Gaslight was a surprise bonus, but I actually am not sure.
