I'm feeling so good today I wanted to provide a quick update on our recovery. DW had wanted to put some photos of the kids taken over the last year on our walls. Some of them were photos that I took while I was out with the kids while she was with OM, so I told her that I objected to some of them because they bring up very bad memories for me. She at first reacted in anger, but about 15 minutes later apologized with tenderness and affection. Then today in an email she said this:

Quote
I GUESS I SORT OF FLIPPED OUT ABOUT THE PHOTOS. SORRY. I HOPE IN TIME YOU'LL JUST SEE OUR GIRLS IN THE PHOTOS AND SEE THEIR JOY AND NOT HAVE IT BE A REMINDER OF BAD TIMES. I'M SORRY YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS. I LOVE YOU.

Only a BS can know how much those words mean. A little acknowledgment and compassion, after all the pain, and all of a sudden, I do start to see only the joy in those photos and not the bad times, so I told her so.

And for any new BH out there who is still in that early pain after DDay, I promise you I heard all the same things from my WW that you are hearing now, so hang in there, because the W that you remember and love can come back, and it will be worth it.

NS

It sounds like she is starting to get it. Hopefully soon you will be able to look at the pictures of your girls as just pictures of them. And the only thought in the background should be that you stepped up to the plate to save your family.

NS,I just wanted to tell you that I admire you for being so strong and realizing that she would come back and being strong for her!Don't give up!Just keep loving her!She will wake up and realize what she has to lose!Believe me,I am a WS and am fighting with everything I have to get my H back!He was once like you,but the tables turned and all I can do is have faith, and be patient that he will realize my committment and learn to trust me again!

Isn't it amazing how just those little things can mean so much? I don't think that the WS even has a clue to how much they can hurt or help things along. Hang in there! Sounds good!
