Speaking of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy:
Guys: Eowyn or Arwen? (My pick would be Galadriel but when she gets all dark and scary thinking about the ring it reminds me of someone else. I'll go with Eowyn)
Ladies: Aragorn or Legolas?
WW would go with Boramir and that fits. He tried to betray the Fellowship. Funny though, OM more resembles Gollum.

Some novels I read whilst in Plan B - On The Beach by Nevil Shute, and Life and Loves of a She Devil by Fay Weldon (novel is FAR better than that daft movie). The first nearly tipped me over the edge - the second put me on the road to recovery! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I also watched a lot of movies - reclaimed those that were once spoilt for me because they were ones that my ex and I had cherished together... Lord of the Rings, Star Trek etc...
I read alot of good Fantasy and Science Fiction novels too...
Now I'm divorced, and heavily into Battlestar Gallactica. Man, it's fine. And, although it's Science Fiction, it's something that Ex and I never watched together, so it's 'untainted'.
I also love The West Wing.

Aragorn...that man is soooo hot! There is something about him (only in these movies) that just moves me...especially when he is grungy (sp?) and drippy and dirty and unshaven. MMMM... TMI I know, but it's true. I also love the fact that he is true to his woman through out. Plus the fact that he is the hero....who could ask for more?
Also, The Soup on E! is fabulous...very sarcastic fun at those people who think they are all that and a bag of chips.
This Sat. is my 35th birthday so I am heading down to LA to spend a day with friends at The Grove/Farmer's Market and then a very yummy dinner at Maggiano's. The best Italian...and family style rocks...it's like a little piece of heaven. All you can eat, mmm. The fried zucchini appetizer and the pound cake dessert are my favorites!!!!

I enjoy some trashy TV. I watch "What not to wear" now and then, I watch "The dog whisperer". I enjoy Law and order, especially CI, because of Vincent D'Onofrio (sp?). Hmmmm, I like older movies, too, especially Hitchcock films and most films with Cary Grant (talk about scrumptious!). I also quite enjoy "Man vs. Wild" cause a the MAN (he's yummy too).

I am wearing a lovely red dress to this soiree. It has little cap sleeves and a U neck, and a fitted bodice. The skirt goes to my mid-calf and is full and flowing. AND it has pockets and if I twirl around in it, the skirt goes out...WEEEEEEEE! See??
I think I'm going to bring melon-cauli(flower) salad to the soiree. (Get it...huh?? Melon-cauli...heehee <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />) And I think I'll bring hot chocolate as a drink. Yeah--nothing like hot chocolate for comfort.

May I a chocolate chip cookie fest? Chocolate chip cookies drown a world of sorrow...oh yeah. Here's my recipe:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup (2 sticks, 1/2 pound) REAL butter, softened 3/4 cup granulated [white] sugar 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 eggs 2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels Peanut Butter chips or chopped nuts (opt.)
COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter (use real butter only), granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl (the extra vanilla makes the taste GREAT). Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; gradually beat in flour mixture. Use just a tiny bit of milk to keep the mixture soft (like maybe a tablespoon--it makes for softer cookies). Stir in chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips or nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
BAKE in preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 9 to 11 minutes

I'm late to the party! I have been known to make cookies, but last week I bought some of the pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough and then just ate it. Yum.
I'll go with Eowyn over Arwen, mostly on the basis of Eowyn's "I Am No Man" speech when she faces down the Lord of the Nazgul. She rocks. Kinda like SilentLucidity.
I've been watching the HBO series Rome on DVD. Good stuff.
Did anyone post the pronunciation of soiree? You may have heard the word (think Swar-ray) but never seen it spelled?

I went with Eowyn too for the exact reason you did but you have to give Arwen her props. Her horse chase and “If you want him, come and take him” speech to the nine Ring Wraiths at the river’s edge was great stuff.
I think I will watch Open Range tonight. Can't beat a Robert Duvall western. The shoot-em-up at the end is one of the best ever.

wow...a party on a week night...I am totally in....got my hair and makeup but totally underdressed...I make a fab vodka/rum punch..I'll bring that, and a great mexican chili dip with chips...
IHC...don't appologize...I am a TV addict too. thank GOD for my DVR...I would never keep up. LOVE arrested dev(sorry lilsis) but for you I am going to boycott it!!! other fav's...LOST...GREYS...IDOL...and #1 of the moment...BROTHERS AND SISTERS cry every week, total family drama...MUST SEE for any wonam who loves crying movie... I saw the last 30 mins or so of Unforgiven the other day. Man, I love that movie. So many great lines, one of which comes up at my IC sessions. Gene Hackman, dying on the floor as Clint Eastwood prepares to finish him off, says "I don't deserve this . . . to die like this. . . I was building a house." To which Eastwood responds "Deserve's got nothing to do with it." The line comes up for me when I complain that I didn't deserve this.
Regarding Arwen, in the book, it's a different character that carries Frodo by horse, and since they changed it apparently just to give Liv Tyler screen time, I guess I kind of discount it. Bit of a purist that way, I suppose.

IHC....you might be my newest soulmate...are you talking about Sommersby??? the one where he is hanged at the end...I cried for about 1 hour after I saw it the first time..and I bought it....he wants to be a stand up man for once in his life..she makes him a better man and to be that man and her TRUE husband he has to hang...pass the tissues please.

Well, I finally made it here. I'm happily divorced, but did do a fairly decent (expect for the one time I let WH spend the night) Plan B. And mine lasted 2 and a half years, so I get the prize for length, if not quality.
Hmmm. TV - I hardly ever watch it, and I have HighDef and maximum cable, and a DVR, or whatever. I've never used the DVR, need someone to show me how.
The best part of Plan B is that you learn to live well WITHOUT the WS, so if it comes to that, you will do just fine.

And the worst part of Plan B is (if you are doing a good, dark one), that nothing ever happens. It is day after day of nothing. Quite a change from the drama, spying, wondering, tossing stuff out in the street stuff.

You guys ARE my soulmates!! Right down to the furry robe (got one for Christmas from my best friend...yummy!!)
The only thing I'm not on board with is the LOTR. I saw the first one on DVD shortly after it came out and couldn't make it through (fell asleep!), but watched most of the last one on cable a couple of months ago and enjoyed what I saw. Prolly I should rent all three and watch them at one time???
Viggo Mortenson (??...he was Aragon, right?) is such, such a hottie in it. Waaay better than Orlando Bloom (not digging the blond hair because he's much hotter in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies all dirty and wet).

Star Wars, Star Trek, Princess Bride ALL favs!! (INCONCEIVABLE! and "As you wish...")
Also the Indiana Jones' (1 and 3) The third one has the added advantage of Sean Connery, in ADDITION to my all time favorite Harrison Ford (nevermind that he hooked up with skelator Calista Flockhart). I just love the way Harrison Ford's eyes crinkle up when he smiles...the line from SW ESB, as he's being lowered into the carbon freezing thing: "I know." Is that great or what?
I also admit to being a James Bond fan...the Sean Connery ones. Clint's good, too. Oh...and Steve McQueen has that "quality" too.
I also like House and 24. I have to make an effort to watch TV, though...seems like just when I want to sit down and watch something, the phone rings or one of the kids needs something or I've got a mountain of dishes. (I did love Arrested Development, until....)
Enough with the crying movie lists! Who wants those in Plan B? Haven't we done enough crying at this point? (Although I will throw one in there that I haven't seen in years...can't even remember the name, but it has Richard Dreyfuss and Holly Hunter and he dies while putting out forest fires in his airplane, and his ghost comes back to watch Holly Hunter get on with her life...Anyone remember it? boo hoo!)
And to eat...as I said, Ghiardelli chocolate chips. Instead of cookies, how about a flourless chocolate cake? Drizzled with raspberry sauce?
Another good part of Plan B...you can sleep in the middle of the bed. (Help me out here, guys.) Less laundry? Fewer dishes? Total remote control?
