BTW I'm completely with JL on the portrayal of men in sitcoms and commercials. It's the stereotype that used to be for the portrayal of women and now it's turned around.

That does annoy me. You don't need to replace one stereotype with another.

I loved Everybody Loves Raymond. Our family, both mine and my H's (extended and close) affectionately roast each other all the time.

I'm posting nekkid

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perfect Example of a PEPISM that made me LOL!!!

Now see that what I mean, Mimi?

I have no desire to see any woman other than my wife "nekkid," thus I see no humor in that "Pepism."

One could even question the "mental picture" of a "nekkid woman," other than one's spouse, for the men who are reading. I could have been offended by Pepper "flashing" herself, but I can't, the imagery is itself too funny! Though it does raise the interesting question about Pepper's history of "nekkidness before the computer screen," lol. I'm just glad I don't have a Webcam!! LOL! Sorry Pep, I had to change the image to be "harmless and not tempting to me."

Suffice it to say, humor is often in the "eye of the beholder." And it's usually not funny, or even offensive, to some people. Now, there are some guys who make me laugh a lot....see "Redneck Comedy Tour" for reference. "Git 'er done!" "Here's Your Sign!" "You know are are Redneck when..."

This discussion is SOOOO interesting to ME...

about different kinds of humor and what different people consider to be humorous...

for example, the PEPISM..

The CONCEPT of being naked at tne computer is what tickled me...

OMG, I DIDN'T EVEN THINK TO ENVISION PEP NEKKID....

I've been learning to FREE MYSELF OF MY ALL INHIBITIONS lately..it's about TIME...walking around here..YES...NEKKID..and I'm OLD, too...SO WHAT?..AN OLD SEX GODDESS!!!

I have issues with promoting STEREOTYPES..

I have been greatly harmed by this..

This is based on my life experience, though...

There have been lots of ASSUMPTIONS made about ME before folks REALLY get to know ME...

Does this help you to understand my POV?

Mimi, what you are trying to say...it reminds me of this passage in the bible:

"I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong. And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don't let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died."

Romans 14:14-15

I don't think Paul is only taking about food.

The way I look at those jokes, though, is that they are poking fun at the stereotypes themselves rather than the object of them!

Mimi, the only assumption that I made, and it is correct I believe, is that you and I have a completely different sense of humor. That in itself does not make you or me a bad person, just a bit different....

FH,

The POttyJohnAgreement????

POJA

That is toooooo funnnyyy!!!!

I loved it.

In my house, FWH and I have an agreement. If the lid is up, I put it down. If the lid is down, he can choose to sit down to p. It gets him "in touch with his feminine side".

This is our POttyJohnAgreement.

We just never had a name for it before - thanks!

SB
