Gracious are you
To mask my shame
Amidst piled-on layers
Of sorrow and pain

Foolish my heart
Not guiltless but vain
Should now burden our love
With cause for my blame

Broken hearted
Forfeited trust
Tainted thoughts
Now cast in disgust

Ashamed of my weakness
And who I've become
Time wasted with sadness
That can't be undone

Grasping at glimpses
For a future to show
With words that you doubt
Deservedly so

Held on my finger
This simple gold band
Now tarnished and scarred
With despair from my hand

Painfully now
I walk through my days
As insecurity and remorse
Seep through my veins

Blind were my eyes
To the precious love you gave
And bestowing upon you now the choice
This beggars heart to save

it's a beauitful poem. i know the betrayed spouse is not supposed to expect remorse but it sure increases the chance of restoring the marriage. marty
