Mel said: You can put me down as a COWBOY, little lady!! That right there just qualified her to go to the land of fruits and nuts. Cowboy/girl is confused and I am surprised because I mean she is from TEXAS not California. Where I live this would NOT be a big deal But MEL!!!! This is going to be some party that is for sure. Wish I could come. And Pep, you keep an eye on 2L. I am not sure, not sure at all, that that boy knows or cares that there is a difference between foam on top and whipped cream on top. JL You realize in CA some cowboys c/b girls. Ok Pep..... let us know so we can dial in again....or maybe I might be down your way in July... I promise NOT to send the flowers late again. Aloha, L.

Kiwi said I speak perfectly acceptable English in a perfectly acceptable accent. 2L she even knows what a "jumper" is, and a "judder bar", OH and a "panel beater". Jen, the problem you have is that 2L has rocks in his head, and heck even stares at them, and thinks about them. Tough to talk to a man like that you know. JL

A jumper is a sweater. Duh. A judder bar is a speed hump. Duh. A panel beater is a .... oh it's someone who fixes the dents on your car. LOL
Yeah, I thought 2long may have rocks in his head. Explains a lot.

KiwiJ, You said A jumper is a sweater. Duh. A judder bar is a speed hump. Duh. A panel beater is a .... oh it's someone who fixes the dents on your car. LOL I know that, but I would submit that is not known as "good English" in this part of the world. That is why 2L is sooooo confused. June or July are good. Date, time, location.....
Big boy sounds good. Or someplace at the beach might be fun. I will be there, and I live near the beach...do we have a date yet? [b] [color:"purple"] Would you like to plan a beach gathering? That would be wonderful a place with lots of parking a place that is friendly to folks who take up tables for HOURS a place not too $$$ a place easy to locate any ideas? [/color]

FF, if we go to the beach, why not bring the kids? Whyfor a sitter? There will be parents of children there, all of whom know how to help with "chitlins" (As Pep calls them.)

I know of NO PLACE at the beach with tons of free parking that will not be over run with people on the weekend ....
but just coz I don't know of one does not mean it does not exist
I defer to MF (good initials by-the-way *snicker*)

Well I'd offer the beaches here but parking w/b hard 'cuz you gotta either swim or fly here 1st. One of the disadvantages of being in the middle of the big blue!
If not a beach, howz about a nice park?!??! Someplace with a cool breeze? Is there anything like the Sony Metro in San Fran? It had a food court, the kids could go and play or got the movies and no matter how loud we got, no one could hear us.
Food was fairly inexpensive and you could even sneak in your own. Parking sucked but that's because it's San Fran.

I defer to MF (good initials by-the-way *snicker*) Thanks, Pep, I like my initials too...so *snicker* right back at ya ) Ok..so, actually, where I live I do know of a nice little Brewing Company where the parking is not terrible, the food is great, and the beer is even better...now, if by chance we could meet on, say, a Sat. afternoon (even late afternoon), we would REALLY be safe with parking, etc. Of course, that also would be good for anyone who has to drive any sort of distance to get home, so it won't be so late. But these are all just suggestions, of course, I am open to anything...even going to the beach and bringing children if need be (hey, I have 4 little ones, so kiddies are just fine by me!!! But I also have babysitters coming out the wazoo, so either way is great. But I know that Mel really wants a ton of little ones (cuz we all know she loves good ol' CA so much and wouldn't miss this shindig for the world!!) running around kicking sand up everywhere, in fact I'll bet she's already packing, she's just so excited!!! And we wouldn't wanna disappoint her! So, lemme know whatcha all think... ~MF

The problem with the beach for ~moi~ is this:
1. Too much travel time with traffic and I want to spend as much time as possible WITH youse peoples not trying to get there 2.My DS is in a wheelchair. Beach as in sand is a no go for me. He is too big for me to handle any more in those kind of circumstances.
If there were some sort of middle ground so the land lubers could meet up with the beach lubers without stressing out too many (and maybe a train station nearby) that would be great.
I am also willing to drive toward OC as a gesture toward Believer and FAR.

Being somewhat sheltered, I have never been to a Bob's Big Boy, so that location would work for me. But certainly, the Oceanside concept works as well . . . .

I've been surfing the Net for picnic areas in So. Cal. so that we can contain the kiddies, but not get sand caught in the wheelchair gears for your son, FF. Found one in Irvine. Irvine regional park. There are others. If we can find one close to a rr depot, believer can come. There is Doheny State Beach, w/picnic areas, wheelchair facilities, other nice things, in Dana Point. San Onofre State Beach, 3 miles south of San Clemente on I-5 (Basilone Road), and this, which I cut & pasted: San Gorgonio Park 2916 Via San Gorgonio San Clemente (949) 361-8264 Baseball fields, lit and unlit, and a large multi-purpose field. The tennis courts are unlit. Good place for a barbeque. Other amenities include baseball fields, tennis courts, BBQ rings & fire rings, large playground, and ocean view picnic area with tables. So, we could cook burgers & dogs, bring watermelon & cold drinks, blankets, chairs, umbrellas, spritzer bottles, and like Pep said, stay as long as we want to. I still don't know about railroad accessible, going to check that out. If any of us need to be picked up, cell phones could be used to contact us at picnic grounds. The places I was looking at seemed pretty civilized. Rest rooms and everything. Just my speed. And good for kids, too.
