I went the professional document preparation route for my divorce since it was a straight forward situation and it was mutual on all counts. No children or alimony situation.

SO everything seemed smooth, I filed my documents. They told me to file the final doc 30 days before the end of the 6 month period from the file date. I filed that final paper (request for summary judgement) in January 07. It should have been final at the end of February. I have not received any final doc saying it is finalized from the court. Someone at work told me that I will not receive anything. I can just assume it's final. Is this true? I would feel better seeing something saying it's final. I don't want to end up re-marrying one day and it's not even completed. I live in Sacramento, California. Has anyone done a California Divorce? Did you receive anything saying it's final?

I'm not in CA but you should receive some sort of final decree for your records. I needed mine to separate credit cards etc., from my ex when he "forgot" to take me off and then went delinquent on his accounts - the decree with the dates helped me clean up my credit report.

I'd check with the court in which the papers were filed and make sure you get a copy.
