I am doing some work in the garden and I need to cut to more or less shape some stones. They are known as Riyadh stone and are definitely limestone and possibly coarse-grained oolitic stone but don't quote me. I'm no expert but I believe they are from Phanerozoic rocks.
I don't really want to cut them because I want to leave the rough looking edge. I have cut a few and they chew up blades very quickly (could get expensive).
Does anyone have experience on shaping these rocks? I'm trying to build a fountain and make borders for flower beds. The stones vary anywhere from 1" to 3" thick.

sadly...illegal in this country. If I did find a stick, the IRS might divert me to Guantanamo in what would later turn out to be a very unfortunate misunderstanding. Of course, my lost time there would only add to my interest and penalties. Maybe a more subtle solution is in order.

Well what about a chisel and hammer? Yes. Maybe. But these rocks appear to have natural microfractures. it is hard to get the rocks to break along a reasonably predictable line. I hadn't thought of water before. Maybe I can soften the rock first. I have googled this with no good results yet. I estimate it will take about 100 cutting wheels to do all the work. I also would likely end up with silicosis. Or, since this is limestone, I guess that might be calcicosis?

Can you not just cope with them fractured into approximately the right sizes......I've forgotten why you are over there but you have to be an engineer....
