Especially for the Plan A-ers. Windows Movie maker...download special songs, favorite photos...and make him or her a tear jerking movie of your lives together. I just made one for my Mom's
Bd and included extended family and a cousin, who I had no idea had any problems, reconciled with his wife in seeing himself in only 4 or 5 photos......said he wasn't leaving her, he was leaving all of us. It was a real wake up call for him. I did do one for my H with years of photos of just us using "Woman" Paul Mc Cartney, and" "Every Woman
in the World" by Dave Mason". We were well into recovery but it brought him to his knees. Make these DVDs and play them on every occasion you can. No LB's are in them . There are songs such as " I see my Father in Me" that you can use for DVD's of your kids. My H kissed me and said I played "dirty pool". but it brought him back around into reality. We have to inject our history into current problems. It could be as innocent as recording a day's event that he may have been a part of and sending the CD, BUT......Put a heart wrenching song to it...hope it works for you.... 22Dev..the movie maker

22 Dev,

How are you? Glad to see you're posting a bit. I just looked to confirm and your first post was on one of my threads about how to "just move on". Sounds like you're just doin' it. Good for you!

It may be fitting that one of my last posts (for a while) is on your thread.....about movie making. That's what I get to do.....make my parent's life history movie for a presentation this summer. I have original music, a professional narrator, photos and artwork.....and I'm trying to teach myself "movie maker" but have no clue.....and I keep getting the screen "you do not have access to that program" until I run a scan disk.

Can I email you for help if I get stuck? If so, please let me know.

Thanks,

**edit**

Ace - check out my first real video I made with movie maker.

It's not too hard, but then again I am a computer geek. Feel free to e-mail me as well if you have questions.

22,

What a fabulous suggestion!

Acey - I tried and failed at that myself a few years ago...movie maker program had me stumped and I gotta tell you, like Eph, I'm a computer geek! (He said "geek"...I LOVE being a geek!)

ROFL

Maybe our brains are too full, eh?

Great to see you, btw.

Eph,

Dang, does your little guy look like you or what? Thanks for the link. Loved the song synchronization (sp?). I'll check in if/when I get stuck. Thanks for offering.

LA,

Good to see you, too. 33rd anniversary coming up and thanks to you and other MB posters (and MC), it will be our best! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I found Windows movie maker very easy to use. The thing is,
to load all of your music at one time, it has gauges to let you know when one song ends and the other begins. The only downside to me was that you can't edit pictures with it.
I bought a Roxio program and never could get it to work properly. Ace if I can help I'd be glad to. 22Dev

22Dev,

Thanks for the offer. My challenge will be to get the photos edited to match the narration on a separate track. Apparently, I have to match the photos with the narration first, and then lay the music as an edit. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Please email me as I can't seem to find your addy when/if I need help.

Eph, have you ever added narration separate from video audio?

I have not done narration yet, but I can play around with it.

My e-mail is in my linked profile if you need it.

Hi Eph,

Thanks for checking out how to insert narration. Looking forward to hearing what you discover. It might help others if you post it/them when you can identify steps.

Also, I appreciated your responses to FH's posts on your other thread about your difficult situation. It's nice you've offered to help in spite of all your challanges.

Ace, what I am finding is helping others actually helps me.

I poked around to see about the narration. Just to clarify, are you wanting to fade the music for the narration part or just have the narration lay over the music?

I'll e-mail you if I get something.

22Dev - you ever done this before yourself?

Take it away, Eph, I will listen for directives on that.
I only did pix, music, and repositioning and replacing pix.
I'm very interested in putting in narrastion, however.
Putting my show together was very cathartic for me. Took my mind of of certain obsessions I had, and gave me an increased joy in the rest of my family members that I had had inadvertently been ignoring

Eph,

The music can dim, but not disappear when the narrator speaks so it would need two.....uhhhh..... I guess you call them layovers .

1 Narration (I've laid this down)
2 Photos (started to place them)
3 Time the music pieces (fade splices) manually and burn it to match the phases as best as possible
4 Lay the music over (under) the narration and photos.

Not sure how #4 works but a friend said this is possible in moviemaker even though it can't be an exact match. Since it's not a music video, it doesn't matter, though.

I appreciate your poking around, Eph. Sounds like Dev wants to learn, too.

Do you burn the finished product with Sonic? Have you used Lightscribe? Like I said I have no clue, but I'm excited to learn. I want to be a media producer when I grow up so this is fascinating for me.

My parents WWII love story is so inspiring. I recorded it on video 17 years ago but now I have permission to use original music so I can share it without being busted by the royalty police. It's fitting that I may get help producing it on a Marriage Builders forum.

Thanks,
Ace

Update for 22dev:

What I found is you have to create one video with the pics and music or narration and save that. This is video 1.

Then create a new project in movie maker, import video 1, and then lay down either the music or narration (whichever is not in video 1).

I haven't figured out how to fade music yet - still looking around.

Eph,

If I pre-time the music before I burn it, maybe I can practice with a boom box and cassette tape with the fades in the proper places and then burn it with the diminished volume.

(Nothing like going from HIGH to low tech in one fell swoop, huh?) <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

The importing of a second project must be what my 'consultant' was referring to. I had to put the narration down first so I could match up the photos.

The music is secondary background 'fluff' but at least I have original music (with expressed written permission for its use) and not a pilfered soundrack like I used 17 years ago when I did the video version. In fact all 3 musicians were honored I wanted to use their pieces for this production.

Have you tried to import another project yet? Let us know how it works if you can do it!

Hey 22Dev and Eph,

How goes the movie producing? Have either of you tried to do the steps Eph suggested:

1. Create narration with photos as video #1 and save it.

2. Create music as video #2 and add it to video #1 by edit.

Did it work? Does anyone else have any hints about how to produce a 'movie maker' dvd using music, photos, captions and narration?

Thanks,
Ace

I have managed to merge two vids. My test involved two songs playing on top of one another, which is basically the same thing you need since your narration is pre-recorded.

Is the music you want to use one continuous song or clips of various songs?

Surely we can figure out a way to make it work.

It's clips of various songs to match the narration, which is already tracked. But I will have the music clips timed and burned on one CD in advance so it will be loaded as if it were one 20 minute song.

Whoooo hooooo! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> How did you do it? <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Are the clips saved as a file also (mp3, wma, etc)?

If not, can they be?

If they are, this should be "easy" to do.

Geeez, Eph.....y'think I have a clue. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

My 'consultant' just got back from college so I'll have to ask her. If we can't figure it out, I'll be in touch!

Thanks for your efforts.

Hey, 22Dev....didya hear what Eph said? How are your projects coming?
