To All The Killer Bee Moms Fighting the Good Fight! You have been an inspiration to me every day!

To all the Dads here who have had to be the Moms too!

All these kids will remember you all forever for the all you have done for them and for what you went through with such dignity and grace.

This will be my very first Mother's Day since my Mom passed on. I will remember.

Well, I'm taller than Robin Williams and I have a lot less hair. Other than that, not much different. Except I prefer a little black number. Something that shows off my shoulders and arms.

I've learned that God did not give me eyes in the back of my head or and extra set of arms and hands to do everything that needs to be done around the house.

In short, I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for moms.

once these grandchildren come along - it is a blessing of all blessings !!

I, too, am alone this weekend...but I am certainly making the most of it, and tomorrow I will go visit my mom...

When I think about all of the relationships in my life--the GOOD ones--I am so amazed and grateful. In many ways, those relationships were superficial before. Now, I have such deep, deep appreciation for people in my life.

My mom: who drives me crazy with her need to cook a meal in the midst of every single crisis, but who is THERE, HERE, anywhere that I need her, and who I have learned would go to the ends of the earth for me, and would never stop fighting for me.

And all the surrogate moms in my life:

My sisters, who will circle the wagons and protect me, even from miles away, who will come at the drop of a hat when a crisis hits, who will go on trips with me, who will listen for hours to my woes, who will remind me that I am worthy, who will remind me that I am doing okay, even when I'm curled up in a ball unable to stop crying.

My friend LK: who will take my calls at 5 AM, sleep over at my house, bring me her daughter's jeans so I have somethng to wear when I'm 90 pounds, run interference for me, pull me back into a life filled with fun, laughter, wine, chocolate and sisterhood.

My neighbor: who drives my kids to school and picks them up when I have to work, who taught me to crochet, who makes sure that my lawnmower and snowblower are working and sends her H to get them started, who sat with me when I could not be alone, who attends funeral services for rats, who reminds DS11 to fill the bird feeders, who feeds and waters the cats when we go away.

The poker girls: who will let me cry on their shoulders in the lunch room, who will stand guard for me at the courthouse when WH is down the hall, who will give me the opportunity to experience Chicago on St. Patrick's Day, who will offer to scape and paint my garage in return for only a case of beer, who will always "take one for the team," who will cheer me on with every success and remind me of how far I have come with every hurdle.

And of course, all my virtual moms here: who will give me well-deserved 2x4s when warranted, who will constantly remind me that I am okay, normal and sane when I am not sure, who give me way more "atta girls" than anyone should require, who have challenged me and pushed me to grow in ways that I never imagined, and who have provided me with the wisest, most sage advice I could have gotten anywhere.

And I guess I must add MIL: who patted me while I sobbed uncontrollably on her couch, who called me her daughter, who ached for me, who does love me in her own way, and because she tried to do her best, but she's flawed like the rest of us.

Happy Mothers Day to everyone who provides the kind of love and support that is unique to moms...
