I am going through a divorce right now and, thank God, its in the offer counter-offer stage. I had to put it on hold to pay some of my attorney fees but it is starting back up again. Moved out of the house May 2006 and it was the best thing to happen with me. My wife was very passive aggresive. Her sister moved in in 2001 with a bunch of dogs and has not left and is crazy as heck. My wife refuses to work and lives in our house. Its a huge run down place on 24 acres that really could have been a dream but needed two full time incomes. I also discoved my wife put together a forged quit claim deed deeding my share of the house to her. She now has emphasema and has put in for SSI but its in the begining stages and she could hold a job if she wished. I still pay my bills, her bills and my attorney. It will be over soon though.

I had a rebound relationship that ended in January of 2007 and am trying to deal with "hey I don't have a girlfriend/SO". I want to be single for awhile and learn about myself but its hard to make that feeling go away because I have been married for 16 years and have to deal with that void. I have to slow down and not rush things and that is the hardest part.

You are on the right track...the best thing you can do for yourself is to become comfortable with being alone.
Once you master that then you could try the dating scene if you are so inclined.

Do you have children?

Take care and hang in there!! It does get better! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

No children and the house is paid for. You are very right about being comfortable being with me. Also right now I am so down on relationships.... 16 years and a handful of ashes.

I'm sorry I know it's rough. My mantra on days that I am down is "this too shall pass" and "it is what it is". I had 10 years in on my last marriage and one daughter with him. It sucks but life does go on and relationships will start to look more appealing the further away you get from d-day.

Take care
Ronda

Dude, slow down and be yourself. I did the rebound relationship thing. I hung around with a varied group of people. I've been there. Concentrate on yourself and your family. I went back to church and now I am the church treasurer, Awana teacher, and Sunday school teacher. I have an entire social strata that revolves around my faith. Whatever you do for a living, become better at that. Most of all, know that this next stage of your life is all yours. Not everything is in a book or Dr. Phil psycho babble. Getting through the Bid D and everything around it is mostly common sense and rediscovering who and what you are. Good luck.

I wish I could say something classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn't be (my) style.

Gekko

I am gradually slowing down. Some around me think its withdrawl but I need this time just to think. I am slowing down but I'm tapping the brakes, not standing on them.

Also, my denomination is going through a schism now (Episcopal) and I have to be careful where I choose to worship. I just moved to another town and I need to find a church that is in tune with me theologically speaking and its hard. The churches in my denomination around here are pretty thin gruel and I am looking for orthodoxy.
