My sons and I just spent the weekend with my son's father's OC. She was born 4 years before we had children, and I didn't find out until she was 2. Their father died 6 years ago. But that isn't the story here.

He had ANOTHER daughter from his first marriage. His wife cheated, and it was supposedly only a ONS, but they divorced when the baby girl was born. My ex had blond hair and blue eyes. The baby had black hair and brown eyes, like the ONS partner. My ex never had anything to do with her, except he drove by her house looking for her until he saw her, and then denied again she was his child. She was about 15 then.

So my OC and her found each other, and then found my sons. The OC and her got a DNA test, because this situation has been haunting the oldest for 39 years now.

Today, they got the results, and my son's father IS her biological father. She was OVERJOYED to finally know. Right away they called me, and then called my sons after work. So now we know that my sons have 2 half-sisters. They are excited too.

Of course, being a person who ponders things, the whole situation has made me sad. One mistake ruined a marriage. It ruined what should have been a father/daughter relationship. It caused years of confusion and yearning, and problems for this woman and her mother. It's too late for a relationship with her father, and he will never know the truth. And it is all because someone didn't protect their marriage by honoring their vows.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

Again the children pay.

I loath that.

Believer,

Amazing and Sad at the same time. What a loss of opportunity. I do hope your visit with OC you knew first about went or is going well. Believer, it seems you have the opportunity to add two new people to your life, and often that is a blessing.

God Bless,

JL
